If they vent to atm, then some of the air that the ecu has accounted for is not going into the cylinders.
This leads to a rich mixture.
This makes your mpg lower.
Your cat coverters run hotter, longer.

So, by adding a little bling to your ride, it now runs like a Yugo on three cylinders.

PPSsssssshhhhhhh!!! MOBY!!!!!
Or if you change turbos and run higher boost (say 20+psi), your stock bypass valve won't suffice and you'll have to run an aftermarket BOV. You can, of course, run a 100% recirculating aftermarket BOV such as the Perrin which will handle higher boost applications AND run the way your car is supposed to.

(btw, I have just such a BOV for sale if anyone is interested )

Man! This guy Egan really knows what he's talkin' bout

I hear there is a mod you can do to the stock bov to allow you to use it with higher psi +20.

I'm running the WORX bov and some times I run it 100% recirc and some times I open it up 50 to 100% just for the noise factor. It works for my setup the way it should but it's pretty much just a noise maker.
