Does anyone know how to get hold of imprezer? I need his reply for the GB. Please help me to locate him if possible.
Thank you

Actually, there is a debate about which is the better tire size for the STi in STU. The tire limit we have is 245 series. Many are going for 245/45/17 for the gearing (the 6 spd in a way hurts us at AutoX). I went with 245/40/17 because I wanted more tread on the ground for the turns. For the WRX folks in STX, 235/40/17 seems to be the choice for their gearing.

I agree that a 245 would be more desireable in STU, but Federal doesn't make that size yet. Assuming that these tires are inexpensive enough, I would rather run 235's with more aggressive alignment settings (toe out, big camber) than a more expensive 245. At least until Federal makes a 245.

The thing is, a Falken or even a Hankook has already proven itself as a worthy competition tire, while Federal is an unknown quantity. Again, if the price is right, I'm willing to try a set. If they're good, I might have a new addiction...

I also completely agree with you regarding the gearing. I just ran an event today and was all over the rev limiter in a couple places on the course. My little "beep-beep" guy in the tach was working overtime...

BTW, any word on the group buy?

Thank you for the reply. We will have more sizes, inculding the siezes that you need, in the end of this year. But i still need some price from your feedback. Like AD-07, RT-615, S-03, those tires that you use for daily drive as well as track day.
We are going to sell this tire through our customer in USA or here from a GB. But your sure can see the price difference if yo buy from the retailers.

As for GB, i am still waiting for imprezer's reply. Thank you

For a daily driven tire, I don't consider the S-03 or the AD-07. They are simply too expensive and don't offer much (if any, without shaving the tread) additional grip over Kumho MX's, Falken Azenis (615 or 215), or Hankook Z212, all of which come out much cheaper.

Potenza S-03 245/45/17- $223
Advan AD-07 245/40/17- $209
Falken RT-615 245/45/17- $152
Kumho MX 245/45/17- $135
Hankook Z212 245/45/17- $106

I can buy two sets of Hankooks for less than a set of S-03's or AD-07's. For an unknown (in this country) manufacturer of an ultra high performance tire, I think that's the pricepoint to aim for. Also, no Bridgestones or Yokohamas were equipped on any of the trophy winning STS or STU (street tire) classes at this year's national championships of autocross, and only a few used Yokohamas in STX. You're aiming for the wrong target!

Uh, the winner, and the next top ones after in STX were on the AD07's. Also, if you looked closer at STX, most WERE on Yokohamas, so you are incorrect about what you said!

And after doing my research, I bought the AD07 for my 05 STi which I run in STU. Just cause no in in STU had them on this year don't mean they are not good. I can not say yet for my own experience cause I just got them on, and can not race for awhile because I am recovering from an umbilical hernia surgery. But from what I have felt while doing a little local driving, they are no worse than my BFG KD's I was on, which even when brand new were WAY BETTER than the Kumho MX tires I had on for over a year which I felt were cr*p! Too soft of sidewalls, and they did not grip that well. And if you read on the S2000 forums, many of them who have tried the kooks hate them - again too soft of sidewalls.

I will agree on the S03 though. They are a thing of the past.

So, 3 of 9 trophy winners in STX is most? More than a few? I guess my math needs work. There are still NO advans listed on the results in STS and only 1 car (2 drivers) in STU. ( Which probably has more to do with contingencies than tire performance anyways...)

STX trophy winners-
1) 02 WRX on Yokohama
2) 03 BMW on Yokohama
3) 92 BMW on Unknown
4) 00 RS on Continental
5) 03 WRX on Hankook
6) 02 WRX on Unknown
7) 03 WRX on Yokohama
8) 02 WRX on Falken
9) 89 Civic on Falken

or see for yourself.

I'm not saying the advan is a bad tire in any way, but I don't think it's a fair comparison to draw between Federals and Yokohamas. Soft carcass or not, I'd be very likely to consider a tire that is close (very close, if not equal / greater than) to AD-07 or Azenis grip levels for say...half of the price?

If you would spend $200 a tire on an unknown brand in 235/45/17, then be my guest. But this thread started when a federal representative asked about HIS product, an unknown tire (remember when Falken Azenis just came out?) that wants to be the new "top banana". You think comparing them to 245/45/17 Advans is applicable? I don't, and stand by my statements.

Not everyone here drives a Impreza...

I would be very interested in the 235/45 17" size for my Lancer Evolution and I do drive at autocross events. Or perhaps a 255/35R18 for the Evo 8 drivers?

We're still waiting on group buy info and pricing. I'm pretty eager to see some pricing in the SS595 as well, hopefully Federal and Imprezer can get it figured out soon...
All of the prices that have been posted so far have been pulled from other sites for other tires.

Hi everyone,

Thank you for the supports and interests about our new tire---595RS. I had talked to imprezer last week. He is very much willing to provide this service to all of you and let you have a chance to be the first to use this tire in USA with a very low GB price. Here are somethings that i have to inform you guys first. Please give us your feedback so we can see if that reach the target for a GB. Thank you!
1. We will only do this GB for 595RS. SS595 is not in this GB this time. If you want to buy SS595, I can direct you to the agent in USA.
2. We will only offer the sizes for impreza only. The sizes are 215/45ZR17 and 235/45ZR17. 225/45ZR17 will be ready in the end of this year. I will update you guys will it is out.

Thank you and please let us know about your feedback. So we could have the volume from you to get the best prcie for all I-club's firends.

I may be interested in the 235/45ZR17s for my '05 STi. Once again, I will need to see the pricing information.
