DS WRX w/V700 Victo's - Finally got it right!
Just had to share my success. After 4 autocrosses, and a switch from Azenis to Kumho Victoracer V700's, I've finally found balance in my life... and it feels good!
To recap, D-Stock WRX bought from an autox'ing stud (Hi Danno! Props to the man!). Koni adjustables, a good autox alignment and Falken Azenis came with the car. First couple events, I'm overdriving and it pushes. Then I switched to Kumho's because I got a great deal on some and that's what the competition runs up here. Played with air pressures in the rear to try to balance the car. Went low first on another WRX autoxr's advice. That didn't work.
Then this week, still running Kumho's, I tried 40F/55R for pressures. Finally, the car is balanced! I can't believe how great it feels! Now my driving style and the car's balance are well matched and I can focus on improving my line, hitting corners at the right speed, etc.
Great course up here last week (Aug 10th in DC at FedEx field). They ran a close approximation of the June Nationals course and it was a blast. I finished in 5th, but only about 7 tenths out of first. Now I want more!
