Sun roof issues

Alright you 1st gen rs owners.

My sunroof started acting up in the last week or so. I usually don't have it open, but the nice weather has me opening it more often. However, there is a problem. When I push the nice button that makes the damn thing go up and I hear the motor run, but the roof won't go up. If I push on it, then it will pop up and retract.

I have not checked to see if there is anything possible holding it up. I just think it might be the motor wearing out.

So does anyone else here have any experience with this and if so what do I do about it?

sounds like a stripped gear at the end of the run. probably form holding the closed button to long past closed or a micro switch limiter mis-adjusted cased the damage.

I have an '00 RS that does that on occasion. Sometimes the blower at a car wash will push it down... I've discovered you just use the the forward for a sec then back button and it's fine. Good Luck!
