moon / sun roof will not close

2001 impreza RS
drove home with the roof all the way open as usually. nice sunny day in northern california. when I got home the roof would not close. it will not "seat"? the back end is up. I can still open it all the way. but the gap is still there.
I hear the whine it makes when hold the button down, but wont close all the way. This is the first time ever it has given me any problems. and the car is now out of warranty. any way to close it?

Maybe a fuse blew? Or maybe something's caught in the mechanism? It may be a good idea to take it to your mechanic or your dealership

Yes you can close it manually there is a little plastic plug in the ceiling should be just aft of the sunroof and if you are the orginal owner the tool should be in the glove box I think it is just a allen wrench. I had a 01RS look in the manual it should show you which way to turn it.

I accidentally checked the runnings for loose debris thinking a small rock or leaf had fell in. I found a penny.
