Last Saturday was first round of AutoX for 2019.

Picked up some hardware from last year.

Rolled some coal.

Best run.

Did alright.

And more photos.

I kinda wish it was hydro locked...

This ****ing bolt...

All torn apart.

Piston looks ok.

The exhaust valves on #4 were bent and needed to be replaced.

Engine went 5000 miles since the rebuild.

It's getting there...

I had also noticed that the coating on the header was not doing well.

The header had to come off for this repair. Good opportunity to take it back and get it re-coated. Downside, coating takes 2-3 weeks.

Some more detail on how bad the header is.

Being in this kind of shape after only 3 months is not great.

Got the header back last week. Restored to glory.

Car was back between the posts late last week.

Head was back on yesterday.

Your car spends a lot of time between the posts. New name: The Goalie.

It's pretty much back together.

Also put in a longer coupler on the intercooler.

Even my mechanic is sick of this car's ****.

But, it runs!

With a running car, I bought some fresh rubber.

I also ordered some more bits to address an issue with the FMIC.

Finally got my hands on a black faceplate.

Pulled out the old piping.

Mocked up new piping. Added silicone tubes to fit a smaller core to have room for an oil cooler. Did want the enormous Cobb core.

Cobb pipes in.

Crappy old routing vs the new Cobb routing.

But this meant trimming the bumper...

Had to cut out a lot of the fog housings.

Before:

After:

Still a tight fit.

But the bumper is on with the developmental BMSPEC splitter.

BMSPEC also cracked the code for mounting one of their extensions on the GR spoiler.

Got that on the car...

Got the tune checked and cleared for racing.

Had to take the bumper/splitter off to get on the dyno.

Finally got the big fresh rubber on.

Out for some AutoX

Of course same day as Canadian Grand Prix

Dark bumpers were common.

The car survived!

Best run was my first run. Tires were too fresh and wen't giving much grip.

Didn't do well. But I was happy to have the car back out.

Where was I?

Car was running great. Geared up to do another AutoX July 7th and a trackday July 13th. The event on the 7th was a club that didn't doesn't do a street tire class so I would be able to bring out the R-comps and get some use out of those. Packed up the wheels and tools, drove 1.5 hours out to the site. Then this...

P0031, front O2 sensor crapped out.

Can't race with a broken O2. Mildly infuriated.

Amazon Prime Nexday is legit though.

New sensor in, data looks good. Got the car checked out by my tuner again. Got the all clear for racing, again.

OUT TO THE TRACK!

Was rather hot. Day peaked at ~106. Second session was already over 90 when we went out. Now that I had an oil temp gauge, I could see that an oil cooler was necessary. Spent the day managing temps... Laptimes were not great.

I was also promoted to the advanced group. First time in advanced and I 100% did not have the pace for it. At one point I took to the grass to let the other cars pass as we ran out of space on the main straight. Turns out, the grass was a little long.

I also yeeted my phone out the window. Luckily one of the corner workers saw it and retrieved it.

Back looks ok.

Front is looking pretty basic.

Caught it on video. Mount basically said, F U.

Some pictures from the track day.

After the track day, I received some more goodies.

Got the thing apart again.

Oil lines made.

And all back together. Can't even tell that there's an oil cooler in there.
