I think carbon and dark charcoal would have been less work.

Cause as far as im concerned a rear diffuser bolted to the rear bumper does absolutly nothing without the complete aero package in front of it. So we will let everyone know once we start the project!

We had noticed some "flexing" in the trunk lid with the stock spoiler removed and the aftermarket one installed. I did some research, and aparantly in some instances such as with corvettes that people install the C5r wing on, the increase in downforce at speed (this wing is adjustable) can actually cause the trunk to buckle or yield. Their solution is to run either braces all the way through the trunk that quick couple to the bottom of the wing, or run a stifffening plate. We chose a variation of the latter.
Since this car is planned to get full underbody aero and see track time, the carbon is not only for looking pretty
but stiffened the trunk I'd say about 30%, and eliminated the flexing I mentioned.

Well your friends vw is a MK4 and mine was a MK3, two different body styles. The headlights are Hella dual round projectors. I went to that style because the solid glass ones like he has break too easy even with 3m stone guard.
That VW went through so many different iterations it wasn't funny. I liked the way it is in that pic but the style most likely is lost on here it was definatly "euro". But it had custom made Coni Coilovers with 400lb/in springs in back and 375 lb/in springs in front, Reiger wide body kit, Mattig Grille, Audi A4 front door handles, Shaved rear door handles, Shaved hatch, Corbeau Targa RS seats, Rear seat delete 4 point harnesses, Custom tranny swap with LSD and 3.94 FDR built by Euro Spec Sport, TT Tuning Cam, Decked Head, TT chip, and way too much else.
It was a fun car all work done by Obrecommander and yours truly. Too each his own
