Project "One Eyed Suby"
yeah i use to have the chargespeed lip kit surprisingly it does have good fitment for a fiberglass kit. But then again these kits r expensive. So what color will you guys be painting the car?
Obrecommander chose a 3 stage white that I shot last weekend. This weekend is gonna be full of re-assembly and I still have to paint the door handles and few other touches.

hey man it looks like you painted under the hood area the same grey oem color as b4? or is that just primer? because you said you were going to go with white right? I was thinking of going white or black while fixing mine up but then I decided that was too much work..! not too much of a fan of complete (different color) paint jobs considering you have to repaint ALL the jams and everything!! so I just went with silver again except put a couple coats of blue pearl in it.

Yeah I went with white. We painted all the radiator supports and engine compartment grey primer in those pictures. This last weekend we came back through and painted that area white to match the rest of the car. I will have pics soon.

Anyway back to my thread. So after the primer we started on the roof and the trunk! This is where things got interesting. I wanted "a lot" of carbon fiber on this car. For two reasons: One I am a composites engineer. So I design and build carbon fiber parts for the military, and I wanted to design/build a lot of parts for my car using composites. Secondly, I dont think there are too many cars out there that have done what I plan to do.
These first two pictures are the carbon roof and trunk layups.
The picture below is "military grade" carbon fiber prepreg being bonded by 28 in Hg of pressure to the roof, while being heated.

The second picture is the trunk prior to being vacuum bagged.

Here is some pictures after the bonding operations.
