my car's not gonna be back for another week or so. i'm not trying to rush it through, it's still about 30% complete. time flies real fast when you're really workin on it, next thing you know, the sun's down.

so far, i've gotten the motor out yesterday, and cleaned that sucker dry. it almost looks brand new. the pistons were polished after i cleaned it it up, the cylinders look brand new as well, still got the cross-hatching, no scoring and what not. slapped the heads back on and torqued them up with the cometic hg's and arp studs, i just need to replace the water pump to the wrx one. now i gotta do the clutch and flywheel. the tranny bell housing was so dirty inside, omg!! i guess the last person that owned it blew the pilot bearing and never cleaned up his/her mess. there were ball bearings and metal shavings all on the bottom from the last clutch. surprisingly, the rear main seal was still cherry, but i'm still replacing it.

sorry no pics this time around though

better to get all the kinks out while the motor is out than to skip steps

Hrrmmm. Interesting build. I don't know very much about the 1.8T, so please excuse my ignorance. Why did you go this route on the SB?

since the 1.8L is a stout SB and CR is already 9.5:1. i figure adding 2.2L turbo cylinder heads not only lower CR, but also has more aggressive cams than a standard 1.8L or 2.2L. ...and just to say i've boosted one. i'm not trying to break records or go all out 20+ psi boost like some guys did on their builds, and then later on blow a ring land, grenade the block, etc. the crank and rods are similar units of the WRX, the only achilles heel are the pistons. as long as i don't get greedy with boost, it should hold.
