it certainly isn't that good m8. it's basically a toned down subaru impreza sti version5 type-r. due to emissions and what have you, they had to soften it up a bit. so that makes the version5 or 6 of the above the best one built...supposedly even more so over the 22b!!!

Hmm, I remember there were V5 and V6's in that dyno shootout and the P1 with almost no mods trounced the lot of them. It just made it seem like the P1 was much more powerful then the ratings suggest. But i'd probably get a Type-R if i was in a dream world just so that I could stuff it in the face of honda owners
But what am I talking about if I could own any of the delicious GC8 style imprezas i would be happier then a pig in poop! The 22b is still the best looking one though.... But that wide body kit can be applied to any of them. Besides I hear it's ride is very harsh. Sighhh you guys get all the dope cars a lust after, and you own one !!!!

I can only hope someday my lowly RS will be up to a spec that at least makes me content with 22B's, STi Type-R's, P1's, RB5's etc etc....Sighhhhhs

2000 2.5 RS Coupe. It has the same rear wing as your RB5 and the GC8 style front end. Since I live in California which has the most draconian smog laws in all of america a JDM import is not only probibatively expensive but almost impossible to drive legally. A JDM motor swap seems like an option but as of right now the only swap I'd consider would be for the 2.5L turbo in our new US STi or the detuned versions of the same 2.5L turbo offered in the forrester and Baja but that is a project for the distant future. Anyway the stock 2.5 litre naturally aspirated motor could very well be perfect once I get around to dumping money into a complete build and adding a turbo kit and a transmission solution.... The whole project is just a very daunting task especially when you could buy something similar in other parts of the world that are as good as anything I hope to accomplish.... but someday hopefully my RS will be nice enough to make even the guys from overseas a little jealous of what i've built... maybe

its very cheap to turbo our cars (GC8/GM6) it only took me $1200 to turbo mine (not including the electronics) What was done is a very popular add-on these days. Simply all teh turbo parts from a WRX mounted onto an RS. The car becomes very torquey and pics up speed quick as long as its tuned correctly (still working on that) but eats transmissions (im on #2) lol, its still a blast. Hey drb5 i love your cars color. I've been drooling on that. I can't believe they never brought that color to us.

Not to start anything but i'd rather do something correct then quick. There are lots of cheep ways i could put boost on my car.... but i'd rather take my time. The best quote i've ever heard on this was from a friend named shin who owned a 240sx:
"People get too carried away with power, you go add 30 or 50 horsepower and then engine transmission brakes and suspension are all overworked and you start breaking stuff or wrecking"
I'd rather build a car that people could say "That thing is perfect now all it needs is more power" then "that thing is so powerful but the (engine, transmission, suspension etc etc) is the weak link."

Wants the turbo to be the crown on top of a car built to handle it, not 'lets get boost on my RS and worry about stuff later' thats all. To each go your own. I just choose a little more expensive path....

quite rightly put my friend. we can put up 330bhp into a standard uk scoob, but after that it's bigger injectors, fuel pump, etc, etc. although a friend of mine is actually running a, soon to be after a remap, 420 bhp uk scoob, with standard running gear!!!

. I never had planned to turbo it before the other essentials. But anywho its not a big deal, the RS has been turboed for 2 months now and the bigger brakes are coming in 2 weeks and I should have some TEIN flex installed by spring. The car doesn't handle bad at all right now, as I have all upgraded swaybars and mounts
Hey! I've been away from i-club for 6 days and look what I miss. Drb5 I just wanted to compliment you on your scooby, all of the Prodrive special edition models are awesome.
Anyone unfamiliar with the UK Imprezas should check out iwoc.co.uk . There is lots of cool info.
Drb5, there are a few dark grey Imprezas running around North America, but they are extremely rare. And the color isn't as cool as your reddish-blue (or whatever they call it). The problem with importing cars to the US is making them crash test and emissions legal, it can add thousands to the price of the car. Plus, cars from Japan and the UK are right-hand drive, which would be more than a little awkward over here.
BTW, in the March '00 issue, Automobile magazine tested the RB5, R34 GTR, Accord Type-R and Evo VI, in Europe. A very cool issue, especially for fans of Gran Turismo.

My plans are not that of a 500bhp monster... in my eyes that is just unrealistic, because I'm not a fan of dragging. As I said, I'm looking into a mild boost situation in stock WRX kit. I've had my car for 3 years now, and I've got to know her pretty well. I don't want to sound like a know it all or anything, but my ability to drive quickly has hit a limit with a stock RS on decent tires.
