First off welcome. Secondly, it is all relative. Depends on how crazy you wanna get. For the most part the newer models with the 2.5 engine are going to put out more torque vs. an evo which may put out more hp. It really depends on what you want out of the car. This prolly isn't the answer you were looking for but hopefully this can start a convo from others on this site about the advs and disadvantages of the sti.

I am only making comparisons between the sti and evo because your avatar says sti/evo 9, so thought you were in the market for both and couldn't decide

Depends on what you want. The sti because of the hight torque output on low mid range level is awesome on the street at freeway speeds and autocross. However they lack the high rpm power that you really want during road courses when racing. The evo 9's have power from low to high rpm. Not as torquey as the sti but good and wide power band. Thanks to Mivec, twin scroll turbo and high compression 2.0 engine. The evo interior sucks as hell though. Same interior as the base lancer. Subie interior is much nicer. Some say they like the boxer sound versus the weed whacker sound of evo. I don't care personally about this. Overall you can't go wrong on both. Transmission sucks on wrx. Sti tranny is built like a tank. Evo clutch is POS. I hear also a lot of problems with evo 6 speed tranny. Exhaust mods are the best bang for the buck for both. These turbo engines love it when they can breathe.
