Im new to the subaru world and i want to get an imprezza, been eyeballin a 02 bugeye rs but its got some fuel system problems, wiring problems or a pcm problem. Im not realy keen on diaignosing a car so i don't know whats wrong with it. Its acting like its getting fuel and then like its geeting none? rpms go up but drop back down just as quick when you get into it. its not the turbo wrx just a basic RS. so it doesnt need to build boost at all. and its a random accorance throught the whole rpm range. from 1k up to 5k.
Its like you hit the gas hard gain some rpms and then it looses it just as quick? and your foot is to the floor? i can rest my foot on the gas and it seems ok, but as soon as i start to press into it even alittle it starts that crap and wont stop?
what would cause this? any clues or ideas?
the car lot is gona take it somewhere and have it checked out i was told i was the first to drive the car none of the employes had driven it off the lot yet. so they had no clue, so they say...
is it a big ishue? something simple i didnt think about? OR should i pass is up and wait for the next one?
it was a 2002 impreza 2.5L rs 5 spd with 129K on it. i dont know if the timing belts had been replaced or not, could some missing teeth cause that?
it was sudden and gave no warning
it would go up 500 rpms and drop back again, gaining very little inbetween but still *slowing* picking up speed. like you put your foot to the floor and as soon as you hit the floor you backed out and repeted the process.

1: im 18
2: i dont have my 3 years driving experiance yet
3: full coverage
4: insurance would rake my *** over the coals
5: Id love to have an wrx but... see top 4
6: rs will be cheaper the wrx by a few grand around here.

1. I was 18 when I got my wrx, so are many people on I club
2. insurance is not hat much
3. Putting mods on your rs will cost about the same as getting a wrx, it will still not be as as fast as a stock wrx.
Not saying the rs is bad, just saying if you plan to mod the car the wrx will be the way to go.

Thats why subaru has such great crash ratings
I got my wrx wagon when i was 17. I don't drive like an ***-hat, but I like to have fun under the right circumstances. If u get a 2.5rs and keep coming onto i-club, youre just gonna kick yourself after seeing all the great wrx's on here. you'll wonder why you just didn't go for the wrx! just my $.02
