In Maine the Govenor's driver, a state trooper, flipped the Gov's SUV the morning after a snow storm. Excessive speed was the reason for the "accident".

No one got a ticket and the citizens of Maine got to buy a new Suburban, which they wont get a chance to drive.

The Govenor got broken ribs as a result of the accident. The driver (a state trooper) still drives the govenor.

 

A couple months ago someone up here in VT driving a Mitsu Evo was clocked at 146mph in a 65 (I-89), they couldn't chase him but they finally found him. It was in the newspapers, his ticket was "only" $760 or so. Sounds like the $500 "intent to damage a tunnel" or whatever that Boston clause is really put that $1110 ticket over the top. Seems like you'd either have to be either doing 200mph in a supercar or bring drugs/guns/other crimes into it to top the $1110 ticket...

I've given up, it's not worth it any more, not just fines but the ensuing insurance rape. I just don't speed any more, no stress, no worries, but leave early.

 

I used to go to high school with the driver of the EVO. I heard he was coming back from canada. Recently a 98 RS in Barre got busted for like 130 on the interstate (65 mph limit) and a 5 series was going 90 on the connector from colchester to burlington. A cop saw him so he sped up. THe cop radiod for backup, and they set up spike stips at the only two exits. Front two tires popped, but he kept going, afraid of what his mom would do if he got a ticket. at least 9 officers or cars reached him with guns drawn while he was on the phone with his mom. Scary stuff

 

Do parents bother to teach their kids personal responsibility at all anymore before handing out the keys?

 

I just fought a ticket recently.. 97 in a 65 - $380.. I won, but lost.. I have to pay $320 plus 2 points on my insurance.

 

Anyone get caught with a dead hooker in the trunk? Just asking, no real reason. (insert nervous laugh here)
