85 mph in a 35mph zone: $475
Driving to endanger: $500
Switching Lanes: $100
Muffler Violoation: $35
Spending $1,110 on something other than mods just to drive your car in Boston:
Priceless

Dunno, tho. Could have been one of those guys on cops that sez "Go ahead, take a look" when he knows he has 60 pounds of dope in a duffle bag.

I would assume that, at that speed, arrest was unavoidable and that the vehicle was subject to search as a result.

Even without a warrant, if the speeding charge at such an excessive speed (well, excessive in the eyes of the law) was enough to get him arrested on the spot, would a search legally follow without consent?
My impression has always been that once you are placed under arrest, your person and your vehicle (if involved in the offense) are subject to legal search and seizure.
I think a lot of things, tho, and most tend to be less than accurate.

What happened was he flew by the cop on I-5. The CHP was on the side of the road clicking away with his radar gun. Well my friend goes by at 156, doesnt even see the cop pull out cuz by the time the cop was able to get his lights on my friend was well out of site. So he didnt even know the cop was atempting to pull him over, so he just kept going. Well ge this, he had to stop for gas about 20 miles later and the cop rolled up as he was getting gas. He recognized his car and got him. He was arrested for evading an officer, on top of the wreckless driving. So Evading an officer is a big no no, which means your car is fair game.

now i get why it was so much. Yeah that sucks but it could be much worse. I gotted bagged on my bike about 3 years back in a similar situation. 110-45, reckless endangerment, excessive speeding, line violations, passing violations. All of them written up as criminal. The ticket was for "Must appear in court". Thought for sure I was losing my license and paying a fortune. Got lucky cause when the cop asked me what I was doing I told him I was trying to get home before the rain cause it was about to downpour. He wrote that on the ticket and also noted that it started pouring while he was giving me the ticket. Used the same argument in court and got it knocked down to 200 for speeding. that was the last draw for the bikes. To easy to go to fast. I think I still have a copy of the ticket. If I can find it I will scan it in. Its good for a chuckle now.

When I bought my VR6 Corrado back in 95 I took it out on a brand new four lane highway at 2 am with no traffic to see how fast it would go. The road was completely empty except that nice officer sitting in the median with his lights off. He was nice enough to verify my speedometers accuracy at 140 mph in a 45 mph zone. Lost my liscence for a year and paid $1000. The good news is when I told my wife she went in to labor Had a beautiful baby boy.

I live in Boston, travel to VT through New Hampshire alot, so I will be investing in a Valentine pretty soon. They have gotten very crafty in that state, especially on Rte. 89. Last weekend I drove by 3 different speed traps w/ multiple cops on bikes & in prowlers. My current detector went off twice in time, but the third time the only thing that saved my *** was the brake lights of cars ahead of me. Not nice. Took some good life off the factory brake pads on that trip.
