We are happy to officially announce the 2005 San Francisco Region SCCA and California Rally Series Rally School!
This year, we are expanding the school into a two day event. On Saturday, you will begin with classroom instruction that will cover all elements of Rally competition, followed by in-car practice for both drivers and co-drivers. Sunday, the in-car practice will continue throughout the morning for drivers, while co-drivers will return to the classroom before heading out for their own practice session again. Sunday afternoon, there will be a mini-Rally, giving you the chance to practice your new skills!
This is a great opportunity to show a new co-driver, service crew member, or spouse what rally is all about. There is no one involved in the sport that will not benefit from this workshop. 2005 marks the the tenth presentation of the school.
When: September 24-25, 2005
Where: Thunderhill Raceway Park, Willows, CA
Complete information and entry form:

If you have questions regarding the Rally School, please contact Michel Hoche-Mong at rally@grok.com
In the meantime, our next RallyCross event is August 13th, and the weekend following the Rally School is a double-header RallyCross weekend, with an event on Oct 1st and 2nd.

where else are you going to learn about this stuff- from people who know without spending several thousand dollars?
And I think people will find the mini rally a fun addition to the program.
Spaces are limited though, so sign up soon!

I WANNA GO!!! HOCHE? Can I still borrow your car? I'd be too slow to hurt it, like I said, and I can always buy touch up paint for the rocks . .. I'll help pay for tires and entries??? No, I cannot afford ANOTHER racecar . . . but I'd really like to get my kicks here and play. Plus it might actually help me out a little bit (Hoche is pretty fast on road course, too). Are slow, newbie, road course drivers allowed to try?

PS -- yes, I am shamelessly bumping this thread, too -- so sue me . . . I race, therefore, I am broke.

*sigh* I've been soooo strapped for time that the GTI is STILL just sitting on jackstands in my garage. I still gotta figure out what the power-loss problem is.
Bonni - if it were running, I could let you borrow it for a rallycross, but for the school you'll need your own car. I wasn't going to bring the GTI up for the school - I have to do a lot of running around that weekend so I was going to come up in my OBS. Rentals are fine. Your other Miata will be fine too, if you have a bolted-on hardtop and rollbar (a good 4pt one). The skidpads will get slightly bumpy with use, but as long as the car hasn't been lowered that shouldn't be an issue. I'm going to try to make the rallycross courses we're going to be using for the minirally be as smooth as possible - they'll be much simpler and less tricky than our standard rallycross courses.
Aw, crap, you got a new LSD for Zippy? I guess I won't be able to pinch the exits and sneak by inside any more!
