I know that even VW and Audi have had issues passing california loop holes. I think Subaru just hasn't felt the need to do this yet or hasn't had the money to do it. Maybe in a a few years. I was hoping for 2012 but I haven't heard if they're even trying right now.
Being a european market company VW/Audi builds a lot of cars designed around use out there and diesel is king out there.
Subaru I think focuses on Japan/U.S.
Just a guess.

Last time I talked to cypress coast Subaru the sales manager was telling me that deisel had a bad rap in the U.S. as a gross smelling dirty fuel, so he believed subaru hadn't started selling diesels here because they don't think people will by them. I think as sales for other diesel cars increase in the u.s. maybe they will reconsider.
To me it doesn't seem like a challenge. They already have a plant in Indiana should be easy to assemble diesel subies or atleast make it an option if you want to order one.

I think as all these fad oils fizzle out diesel will become the governments next play toy. It's really all about what the big corporations tell the governments to push.

. lol and other goodies and mad gear. Cant wait till we get another Subi!
