Official Mt.Madonna Thread!
Friday works for me then. It's only the rear 2 so it shouldn't take that long (hope). I found that removing the rear seatbelt helped SO MUCH when it came to taking off the top hat bolts.

I'll be in Santa Cruz from around 2:30 to 5 on Friday. If you guys need any tools let me know. If I have em you can use em.
And no it really should take too long to do what you're doing.
I really need to get this damn turbo in my car. I've got some kind of oil issue. I think it's pooling up in my turbo. Stinks to high heaven if I have to idle for very long.
Going to probably send mine off to have it rebuilt and "stroked". Do a super TD04. Then switch em again. The one I have is a loaner from my buddy.

16xt is my hands down favorite turbo on the 2.0. Will probably go with an 18 when I go 2.5.

Vouch used to do compressor wheels too. Like 18g wheels intoo the td04.

$250 not bad for a port n polish job. I wonder how the turbo will hold up after, I read on the 3000gt forum about modded td04's not lasting very long.. Once I get my car tuned I am going to start planning for a clutch, then I'll move onto some cosmetic stuff until I can afford to do the full drivetrain swap, oh and I'll probably need the 105k maintenance by the end of next year. Subies are money pits lol

It's not a permanent solution any how.
Basically... my turbo is toast and my motor has 197,000 miles on it. I need a turbo to keep it going until it's toast. I don't like putting stock parts back on. If it's off... upgrade.
I've got a loaner turbo so I can either buy a used TD04 or send mine out for a rebuild for an extra $100. Figure... why not.
At this point I'm passed the yeah when it goes I'm getting a new motor to the point of... how long can I keep this sucker running! I want to see how long these things can last when properly maintained.
In the meantime I'll have time to work on my caddy and get it running. I'll have to drive it daily while my car is down. Then I'll pick up the swap that I choose. Take all my crap out. Either put my stuff in or have GST or DB put the new stuff in. Break it in. Then have Mike give me a solid tune. 2.5 liter with an 18gXT mild tune. 290-335whp. Then I will likely not touch it again until that one goes boom... lord willing it'll be 150,000 miles later or after I sell it and buy a new one. LOL! I'm holding out for the Legacy Turbo Diesel. LOL!.

Needs.... LIES... more like YOU WANT!!!!
If you are an enthusiast all cars are money pits. Well all cars are anyways. Every second you spend driving it the value goes down (in most cases).
You want a money pit... buy an old cadillac. Stuck lifter... no big deal right. $1500 later... Need to change out some springs... $800 later I have a repair job that I could have done for free. Got sold the wrong springs and spindles.
Paint... not a simple respray like our cars.
