gotta 95' legacy 2.2l... no turbo. nothing. wanted to know if anyone has any advice on slapping a turbo on; need some speed here. and i don't have a whole lot of money, so even taking one of the subaru stock turbos wouldn't hurt. if i were to do that, where can i get one, and how much do you think it would cost, and finally how hard is it to put in?

Definately pricey bu that thing would screw. I found that while looking for a Turbo for my SVX. That one advertised is pretty much a bolt in kit. If you wanted to go crazy you could put a WRX engine in and be all set but all said and done you could be looking at 5 g's also. There is another place that makes a turbo for the Imprezza that can fabricate it for the Legacy its about half that. The price thing is covering R and D since there isnt alot of people beating down the door for Turbos on their Legacies.
If you go with a Turbo you can slap it in and if you keep the boost on the lower 6-9 psi you shouldn't have fuel management issues to deal with. and you could even get away with out an intercooler.

Playing with fire there!! Turbo with no intercooler and no fuel management running any more that 2-3psi is going to bite you. Installing a turbo on an engine that was not built for one is not something to be taken lightly. A turbo kit should be dome right so you are not replacing the engine later. You can ask anyone in here that has been around Subaru long enough to see many an early turbo kit(homemade or otherwise) blow itself or the engine apart. AVO has a turbo kit that includes a new ECU and intercooler. Intercoolers are a must for reliability and longevity as well as power. The AVO kit is easily adapted to Legacy. $4180 is not cheap. A blown engine is not cheap either.

legacy2003 - realize that speed = $$. The 2.2L takes a aftermarket turbo kit better than the 2.5L, but price wise, nothing will beat a WRX or Turbo Legacy engine swap for 5K.

I'm thinking about trying to build a SC kit with my mechanic but I'd love to see a good turbo kit fro the car.
