Legacy STI?

Anyone heard any rumors of the Legacy STI? I saw it was released in Japan, but don't know yet if its coming here. Looks pretty fast and sharp, but probly too expensive. I'm sure the cobb tuning would make a GT just as fast...

There is no Legacy STi (akin to a WRX STi). In Japan it's a Legacy "Tuned by STi." It has some parts added to it (Brembos, STi mufflers, suspension, etc.), but the motor is untouched (from the 2.0GT).

Sure about that?

And yes, I know that the latest model was just called Legacy "Tuned by STI". Hopefully Subaru will bring the F-STI/L-STI to this side of the pond soon.

The OP was referring to the current/future Legacy model (BL/BP), and so was I. I've always referred to the first link as the S401, although you are correct in that it was a (limited production) STi version.

In regards to your second link, there is only a Legacy "tuned by STi" version in Japan. With the article saying, "New Zealand is the only country outside Japan to get the Legacy STI, of which only 600 have been produced," I know that they're missing the "tuned by" part. That model pictured, along with the current one in Japan, have always been designated "tuned by STi" like on SoJ's web site;

http://www.subaru-sti.co.jp/legacytunedbysti/

IMO, until STi touches the engine/ECU (the current Legacy tuned by STi uses the same 2.0L twinscroll turbo motor as in the 2.0GT), I don't think it can actually be considered an STi production vehicle like the WRX STi. Hence why I'm so adamant about not calling the current version a "Legacy STi."

But, maybe a future turbo H6 motor will be...

I don't know man, I fear the extra weight up front will make the understeer even worse.

Did you guys see this article? (and Mike's right, the official name is still 'tuned by STi' even though every magazine editor wants to say 'Legacy STi')
