windshield top tint

I have a 2002 WRX that has a windshield with no tinting at the top. It's got a big chip in it and I'm thinking about replacing it, but don't know whether to upgrade to a tinted version for another 100 dollars more. Why were some 2002 cars tinted, while others weren't? Does anyone think the tinting is worth it?

My 04 doesnt have it and I had a car for 4 years that did and I haven't noticed a difference. But then again, its only a $100 more. If you have the money I would do it.

take it to a tint shop and get some tint film put on it (however dark you want) is usually only like $30 or so. much cheaper then getting the pretinted glass.

and as for attracting cops by having the top part tinted, i don't believe it
