STi wings....

Had just read the Car & Driver with the comparo round 2 between the STI and EVO MR.

In the article they mention the STi scoop and wing as vibrating at speed. I thought...can't be that bad.

Then today I got the chance to tail a white STi....I can't believe how much that wing moves!!!

You can clearly see it vibrating, we were both doing about 70-80 at the time. Hate to say it but Subaru needs to put in a center support on that thing. It has to cause more turbulence than any downforce.

Wouldn't be surprised if there was a "Fasten Seatbelts" light on the gage cluster....oh wait....there is

I notice a little vibration in my wing ('04 STi), but mostly I see it arc downwards as I approach 90mph. The two times I've done 157mph the wing just arcs. There is not vibration in the scoop.

With the wing arcing, it might be a good idea to put in a center support. But then again, I'm not an aerodynamics specialist...

Hi Guys,
As the owner of a '04 sti I have found 1 solution that I think fixes the problem. 1 week after I got my car I removed the honda magnet (or rather the top half anyways) and made some custom caps for the lower. It still looks mean and still gives me the actual working part of the whole set up... the lower half. I am going to be selling these (if there is enough interest) and they are easily installed and removed (for track days) and they keep those pesky honda's at a distance. been stealth for over a year and loving. If you would like to see some pics of the finished product just email me.
