2006 STI wings removal

on the 2006 STI's (or even previous models) is there any way to remove the big huge wing in the back, and replace it with some replica s204 wing or WRX wing?

in addition, is there a way to just remove that other rear roof vane spoiler? i'm guessing it will leave holes..

whether or not they are "functional" body parts, i just cannot stand the look of them and rather have it removed ... IMO, too "ricey" for me...

Easiest thing to do is to just swap trunks with a WRX, just be sure to swap the key cylinder unlocker thing too.

From what I hear they drilled like 16 holes on the trunk deck to attach the rear wing on the STI 06+

^ true on the trunk, just swap with someone of the same color and whatever spoiler you want. As for the mid wing removal, you'd probably have to take it to a body shop to cover the holes.

As for the ricey part...if you don't want them on there...don't buy the car. With the extra amount you pay upgrading from a wrx to an sti, you can make 2 times as much power.

most of the expense in getting an STI over a WRX has nothing to do with horsepower.

Roof Spoiler - jkoc

Hey jkoc,

If you remove your roof spoiler, drop a note. I'm sure there are buyers out there.

You will never be able to turn a WRX into an STI on your own for cheaper than you can buy one from the dealer. What about the transmission and power increase? That alone should do it, and that doesn't even cover the rest of the stuff. If you want an STI, get an STI. If you are going to completely replace everything and do everything yourself, it's a different story, but to think you can do a WRX to STI conversion for cheaper than Subaru is silly.

+1

So true. Too many of my friends make the same mistake. I'm so tired of the "You should have gotten a WRX and..."

Nope, use it as a picnic table... the only wing I can think of from a 'factory' that is worse then the STI was on a 1st Gen 911 Turbo!!!!.

dccd...semi closed deck...more power...bigger turbo...better suspension.. and the list goes on

and don't forget.. a wrx with twice the power of an STi won't exactly be reliable

I dont understand that either. If you dont like the look of the car, dont get it. Dont buy one and dismantle the poor thing. Get a different car then.
