Angry rear window creek

if this creeking noise is heard when you roll down the window use some silicon spray on the rubber weather stripping that should take care of it

Do you mean the rear door windows or the rear-rear window?

The rolling windows tend to squeak when going up and down, if its the main back window then I don't know....

Lightbulb

think i found the problem
outside the car, the two weather strips on each side of the rear window , if you pry up slightly and look in you can see plastic brackets that hold you window in place. These brackets rub directly on the glass when the car is stressed, creating the creaking or squeaking noise.

It's annoying as hell
any suggestions, do you think the window is not installed correctly?

Jez! I would think they would fix this problem on an STi.

On the MY02-03, not sure about the 04 WRX, everytime you
roll down the window, it squeeks. Specially the drivers side.

There is nothing you can do about it. Its a common problem with the WRX. Not even the dealership in Walnut Creek or Stevens Creek San Jose would do anything about it. (At least for me)

If someone actually knows a fix please post! ^_^

The fix. Has worked on most of the cars on which we've tried it. Apply the silicone spray (not WD-40!) to the triangular-shaped mirror support inside channel, as well as the channel where the window glass slides down into the door. Raise and lower window several times to help spread the lubricant on the rubber surfaces.

I was just up in Oregon this weekend, lots of gravel roads w/ washboard ruts. The rear window creaks like mad now. Stereo subs have made it raddle from day one.

I believe this is due to the lightened rear window to save weight. This is not a quiet car....Oh well.
Performance vs. Luxury, I'll take the first.

the subaru mechanic @ the local dealer recommend spraying some silicone spray at the rubber edges. of course, i bought some subaru silicone spray (close to $5.00 bucks)
works well as long as you don't over-wash your windows. he also mentioned almost every subaru had that problem.

Once again, this is not the rear side windows, but the back window/glass on the STI.

I don't believe there wil be a fix for this, unless you want a heavier rear window. Who knows?
