it's been asked a LOT of times, yet I've still never seen it answered.
I want to have my driving lights switched with my high beams through a relay.
I did this on a miata (also ground switched) and it worked great- using 2 relays - but my brain has purged the memory of HOW I did it (and I can't locate my notes)
There are 2 wires to the high beam bulb. From testing today w/ a voltmeter, it appears that the red/blue wire is always hot (+) while the solid red wire is a switched ground.
What I did discover today is that if you splice the relay ground (pin 85) to the red wire and the relay trigger (+) (pin 86) to the red/blue wire, then there is always power to the driving light circuit BUT the HIGH BEAMS are also ALWAYS ON with the low beams regardless of stalk position (HB circuit completed through DL relay?)
How can the relay be connected to switch the driving lights with the highbeams?
There are a LOT of explainations on Scooby Mods for using the fog light switch to control the driving lights. That's NOT my question.
I want my high beam circuit to trigger the relay for the driving lights.
Thanks- now which braniac will be the first to solve this puzzler?
Lot's of lighting websites allude to the issue of a switched-ground, but I have not found any sol'n that seems to work [not even the one that worked for my Miata](one sugg. use #85 to to battery (+) and #86 to swithced ground of HB- that didn't seem to work)
