Aftermarket alarm TT help.
I have read a couple threads about the gray wire for the stock alarm. What if I have an aftermarket alarm in an 02 WRX? It was in the car when I bought it. I don't have a gray wire under the arm rest. Any one have any idea what wire I might need to snip to get this thing to activate while it runs?
Thanks,
Brandon

This is going to be tougher than if you only had the stock alarm? Are you savvy with electrical wiring? If so, I can lead you through the mod to get your alarm to arm while the TT is counting down.

I called the company that makes the alarm in my car. They said that the yellow on there system is the one that realizes if the car is running or not in order to set the alarm. The question that came up was, what if the alarm was accidentally activated while driving. I thought of this and was wondering if anybody thought this would work. It seems logical to me, but I could be over looking something.
Tap the yellow wire into the blue accessory wire on the ignition and cut the accessory wire going from the Turbo timer. In my mind I am thinking that the accessory wire will then not see the car is still on and the accessories will turn off when the TT is armed allowing the alarm to be activated while the TT is on and not when the car is on.
Imminence, what do you think about this?
Thanks,
Brandon

That's pretty much it Brandon. If the alarm manufacturer says the yellow wire from the alarm is for the ignition signal, then you would want to cut it, and connect it to the accessory wire on your ignition. You don't have to cut any wires from the TT however.

It's ok that your accessories stay on. When you take your key out, the signal to the ignition is killed, so you'll be able to arm your alarm. I've done this at least 10 times on different cars, and it has worked for me every time.
Nope, I have never frequented any Honda forums. You're welcome.
