Toyota Auto Shiftknob on 4EAT?

I am trying to come up with a way to install a Toyota auto shift **** with M8x1.25 thread onto the shifter rod of my 2011 2.5i (4EAT), which according to this page is M10x1.25. Has anyone done this?

I've come across adapters like these designed to mount scooter mirrors, but I think the hex portion would then need to be turned down to fit the counterbore in the shift ****.

You're going to want the hex section to tighten down the adapter to shifter/****. If you loc-tite the thread, then grind it down, but it's not going to be a simple task getting it on a chuck.

Why not just thread (die) the Suby shift arm down to M8??

It would be easier to drill and "tap" the Toyota M8 to a larger M10x1.25 thread pitch.

Just tried it today. Turns out the counterbore portion of the Toyota **** is a flexible material, and the 4EAT shifter rod can thread into it like self-tapping screw. End result, the Toyota **** fits securely, but sits about 1" taller than the stock Subaru ****.

Drilled out the counterbore portion of the **** to fit the 4EAT shifter rod, then drilled out the threaded portion with a 21/64" drill. The shifter rod then threads in with some effort. After a few turns it's nice and tight.
