Help with parking brake

Again I want to say thanks to all those who gave all the good advice on changing my brake fluid.
Now I need a bit of help on how to adjust my parking brake. I have no idea where to start. I have to pull the brake as hard as I can when I'm on a hill to hold the car. Anyone else have this problem?

The other option is turning the **** on the back of your rear rotors, that one sucks so give this a try.

Newyork I was down looking for some type of adjustment **** or screw when I changed my brakes and bleed all four corners and couldn't find any type of adjustment. Any pics would be helpful.

Thanks

look on the bottom inside of your rear rotor dust shields (the metal guards behind the rotors). there is a little rubber grommit. if you carefully pull that out and look inside there is a couple gears. if you use a flathead screwdriver to turn these it will adjust the tension of the ebrake. if you just tighten the cable from the drivers area of the interior you are just tightening the cable, not adjusting the brakes. you should adjust the gears to get proper tension. its a pain in the *** but its more of a pain to deal with your car rolling down the hill.... btw the reverse of this is how you loosen the ebrake enough to take of the rotors if they are being stubborn. here is a guide from the manual. just follow the adjustment directions and you should be good. if you do that and your ebrake still feels loose THEN try the method above as your cable itself is probably loose and needs to be tightened. good luck!

+1 for this method. I was at the dealership for a free oil change and they tightened mine this way while it was there.

its really not hard to do at all. just jack the car up on the rear diff, then put it on jackstands. crawl under there and take the grommit off, twist the gears according to the manual posted above and you are done. should take 30 minutes if you are a monkey that just escaped the zoo and more like 10 for the average weekend mechanic.
