What kind of speakers will fit in our front doors? I was wondering if focal utopias would fit 6.5 or maybe some boston pros? anyone got any ideas on this?

6.5" Boston Pro's would not fit in my '02 WRX without a huge spacer that then ended up hitting the door panel. Hopefully the STi is a little better in the space department in the doors.
Good luck
Good luck
Soooooo....any break-in reviews yet??? all this waiting is killing me...my STi won't arrive till prob 1st week of June...so i can only live through the experiences of those who have em already. don't mean to be soo pushy...just dying of curiosity.

Eclipse, I always like them.
I'm only at 450 miles and probably won't break the 1K mark for about 2 weeks. I think most of the others are ahead of me.
The car really does well power wise on the lower RPMs, but between 3-4K it really starts to open up (i.e I feel it starting to push me back in the seat), and then I have to shift
Because of this shifting tends to be jerky rather then smooth, but once it's broken in this should not be a problem with shifting more likely to occur beyound 4K RPMs.
I cracked open the center console to verify it is prewired for stereo. Hope to have something install this weekend.
The car makes more noise (engine/exhaust) then a lot of stock cars, but it's still pretty quiet. The tires are very loud on certain pavements. Here in Hawaii some of our freeways have this grid concrete (or whatever you call it). Whenever I'm driving on that it's hard to hear the person talking in the other seat unless they talk loud. On nice smooth roads it's a bit more on the quiet side.

I'm running Eclipse
6.5s front and rear. You have to cut the holes in the rear doors for them to fit. Kind of a pain in the ***. Running to Eclipse 10s in the trunk.

I'm gonna start planning out my system soon although it'll probably be a rather slow, piece by piece process since I'm a little low on funds right now.
Dave, if you dont mind I was wondering who's working on your system? I'd like to hear what they tell you about choices, especially what speakers (sizes) will fit without modification except for maybe a small spacer. I'm also curious about running to wires to the doors since somewhere down the road I'll probably run close to 100w to my separates ( I really hope I can keep my boston pros). Are there any difficulties with deck installs (flush mount? can u use a trim ring?) since this is my first subaru.
Well hopefully I'll atleast have a new deck soon and some separates running off deck power......that'll have to do for a couple months....damn alarm!

They did a Black STi last week and said the rear doors are deep and 6.5s fit there, the front isnt quite as roomy, maybe 5.25s. Just getting all the basics in now and will add more later, car, alarm, tint and such drained my bank account pretty badly, but I need a stereo bad. Either that or the wife and I have to figure out how to talk to each other again...scary!
