Would you get an EVO VIII........
Damn, sounds just like what I want... I think I remember you mentioning that before I got out here. Oh well, I am still checking the classifieds and such every Sunday. Hoping one will come up for sale. Also checking in mainland, but dont want to deal with shipping at this time...

I still need to flog that thing around before it gets shipped off
Anyone wanna race

WOW!!!!
do you think he used enough Armoral???
I wanted a Supra for a while, .... almost bought one before the WRX, ... but just didn't have the patience at the time, plus the ease of going to a dealership was nice. I found Plenty of Supra's in good, unmodded, virgin condition, for about $25-28k.
but for a new car, ... you can't beat the style, performance, and bling factor of a G35 coupe sport edition!!

oh, ... and after seeing the interior of the EVO today ...... screw that crap. It's the same as the POS Lancer besides the seats! Ugly plastic garbage!! It looks like they got the interior design and materials from GM or something.
yuck.

Yup, the evo with it's 15-20k markup kinda sucks... But the real clincher for me is the fact that I too think that the evo, which like all those before it is still a cheap crappy mirage on crack.
Take one crappy mirage, add 1500 worth of dress up, and at least the drivetrain is good, and you get a evo...
For 25k, maybe... But hell no on 35k+

The Evo's are not going to be limited, so you should be able to get one for close to invoice in a year or so. I think the Evo is a tremendous value for $25K.
It will also be interesting to see where the aftermarket stands in a year. It's starting to look pretty good already.

not to be too ****, ... but the 25k price isn't what the EVO's MSRP is either, ... so regardless you're not going to get an EVO for 25k unless you suck good d!ck and you're on the dealership's 'A' list, b/c that price has got to be close or under invoice.
and that cheap a$$ plastic they use on the dash and trim in the car is f*cking gheytto!!

... but that black EVO looks bad a$$!!!

... and since the 4G63 has been tried and true for years, .... it'll be a hard car to beat ont he street and track.
BUT GOD!!!! THAT INTERIOR IS AWFUL!!!!

Yup, the 4g63 engine is pretty powerful and durable...
MSRP on the thing is still about 30,500 or so... and with the guaranteed markup on these things, I still don't think they're worth the money.
The sad thing about the car is that most people will only drag race them, and never take them to the track or auto-x and really use them to thier fullest... I know it's cliche, but if you want a fast car, just turbo a hybrid honda... Sure it's still a honda, but if you're into drag racing, it'll be a damn fast and cheap one.

the bay area forum has a post about one.
they saw one at the scca event there, stock and it seemed to do well with a veteran driver(maybe the reason). hopefully someone will bring one to next month's scca.
as far as the 4g63, i had a brand new eclipse in late 93(93 model good rear and fixed headlights) i broke the timing belt at less than 15000 miles(don't ask how, but it was recalled) but basically when i sold the car just under 40000, i was on my 3rd clutch(1 original, 2nd race clutch) car just gave me problems the entire way. oh well.
i like the look of the evo though. b

Hmmm, you must've read my mind... I was just talking to 3.5dohc yesterday about how the new owners of the evo will have all the same drivetrain probs like the any other awd car... (clutch, diff, trans) Oh well, I guess every generation has to learn somehow...
I like the external look, though I wish they would take off that triangle crap with the mitsu emblem out of the grille, it'd look much better with an open grille.
