You should, at the VERY least, get your tank of EXPENSIVE *** gas replaced!!

This is not normal. dont you think?
oh, and I agree with all of what Greg said too, ... I do believe a formal appology is appropriate.
I mean really, .... do you guys think, that if we were all 5 Star Subaru supports (or any other delaership), the the Waipahu store would get half as many sales in WRX's?? It goes much deaper than that, but you get what I'm getting at. We have a Loud voice, now lets use it!
plus, everyone Knows how FRUSTRATING uppipe gaskets are!! Now for those to be replaced in the shop would be much easier!
Good luck on getting 'righted' in this situation Jon. If you need anything from any of us, post up!

yes, there have been MANY replaced radiators. The plastic end tanks have a habit of leaking. This seems to be a common problem Across the U.S.

Good luck Jon, print out what was said by the GM, just in case it gets edited. Cuz that whole your car has mods, voids your WHOLE warranty is BS.

The facts are that I did not drive the car. I was picked up in the car at Tony VW. The car was not driven to Sand Island. The tech picked me up while he was on a road test. When I was notfied that there was a complaint the next day by Braun our service manager I personally called John. We note the mileage on all cars when they check the cars in. It is common practice for a technician to road test a vehicle for more than five miles. When we replace a radiator we first road test the vehicle to pinpoint the leak and replicate the problem. After the repair, the vehicle is again road tested.

5 miles for a road test? I still can't figure that one out... If you can't figure out the problem after a mile, you should get new mechanics.
Isn't Tony VW in Waipio? Sure, that's kinda close to Waipahu, but it's still a reasonable amount of miles. To me a road test is around the block, or at the most, up and down Waipahu town on Farrington Hwy. 5 miles?! Give me a break...
And the part about using a customer's car to be picked up gets me too. What is this -- a frickin' taxi service? You don't do errands in a customer's vehicle! Howz about I go down to the dealership, take out a shiny new STI for a test drive. Then, I'll drive it down to Costco Waipahu at ludicrous speed and do some grocery shopping. Maybe I'll buy one of those nice, comfortable leather sofas and strap it on to the roof of the car while I'm at it. How ya like that?! Man, this blows...
Infek, thanks for the heads-up and props to ya for blowing the whistle.

Well said Greg!
Thanks to Jon for bringing this up in our public forum. At the very least, this should make people think twice before JOY RIDING in our cars. I believe that some retribution is in order.

Hey, you guys are all correct in my opinion, but just don't forget that the onus of proof for that Magneson Moss act is on the consumer.
What I mean is that the dealer can void warranties all day long, and if he were to wrongly void one, there's nothing stopping him short of the customer taking him to court; potentially facing some fees and a lengthy battle, and then the customer has to prove to the court that his modifications didn't in fact cause whichever part to fail.
If I'm wrong, I'd be more than happy to be corrected. That's just my understanding from reading that law.

Boss Hog, let me start with a thanks to you and Mr. Schuman for helping us out with track days.
With that being said, I think that this situation bring up some concerns about the care of customers cars while in your possession. You know and most of your employees that most of us take our cars to the track...that doesn't mean they should drive them like that. This not only brings up consernes about Jon's car, but the safety of everyone else on the highway that the time.
I must say that trying to bring this back on Jon for your employe doing something ILLEAGL is WRONG....105MPH anywhere on this island other than at the track is wrong, period. And about your tech being union, that's horsesh!t. A tech that worked for a union Ford dealership did something like this in the Mainland and got fired. Not to say that should happen but, he should be talked to at least.
Now about the modification thing. If you look at your records most of the people that are repeatedly comeing in for major warranty do not go to the track. The ones the are always got to the track usually have a better understanding of what you can and can't do to their cars. The punk kid doing a 6,000 rpm launch and dumping the clutch to impress his friends downtown is the one you need to worry about because he has no idea what the limitations of the car are.
And as for the buisness thing, I don't think you reallize how much we bring to your store in Wipahu. If all you see is what goes on here then you have a lot to learn about the Subaru/Impreza community as a whole.
Just my Nissan haven $0.02

If the gaskets were in fact damaged I wouldn't stop until they are fixed. I'd love to hear their reasons for not replacing them....

Hi All,
I spoke with Jon yesterday, after I posted he called me. He gave me the opportunity to adress some points that were not mentioned in our first conversation. On Monday I will meet with Braun to look into Jon's concerns further.
As to the issue of modified vehicles I would like to cover a few points. Our dealership does not warranty your vehicle, Subaru does. When we perform any work on your vehicles we have to make a warranty claim. If that claim is rejected we do not get paid for doing the work. Our shop is out for the labor and parts. It has happened to us often, we eat it. Many of you know Ed Santiano, he gets stuck with many of these warranty jobs on modified vehicles. Because of this his productivity is always an issue. This directly affects his pay check. He is a great guy who helps a lot of you out but please remember that he has a job to do. This is his livelihood. When you all come to our service shop while he is on the clock to consult him about your projects you are killing his pay check.
Hawaii now has it's own Subaru warranty claims administrator who is reponsible for all warranty claim investigations. He will come out to a shop if there is any question as to modification. That includes our shop or any of our competitors. I have provided his number so you may call him if you have any issues. When you bring a vehicle to us that is modified we have to work with no support from Subaru. Try calling Subaru technical support to get guidance on how to diagnose a problem on a car that has been modified. Good luck, we still haven't figured out how to do it. Ed tries his hardest to help out but you have to understand what is involved with working on your modified vehicles.
For the record, Subaru has published a dealer service directive on modified vehicles and how it relates to thier warranty. It is about 25 pages long. It spells it all out and it even has a bunch of neat picture as to what they demand every dealer is to report. If you want me to personally go over it with you call me any time. We have been tracking repair orders and modified vehicles have six times more warranty claims than stock vehicles. These repairs take twice as long at double the cost. Try eating a couple of those bills, it really hurts. If you don't believe me, ask Ed.
I try to help as much as I can with any concerns our customers have. I appreciate all the business many of you have given our dealership. I own a WRX which I hope to get out on the track soon. I enjoy being a part of the extraciricular Subaru events like the track days and have worked hard with Farid to make it happen. This will continue because I concider many of you friends as well as customers.
Aloha,
Chris
