Normally I wouldn't say anything about this but I don't know what to do... I'm not one to cause problems...so here goes
Well I brought in my car for servicing at Waipahu Subaru to replace my radiator since it was leaking from the top. Waipahu warranted the work on my car and gave me a new radiator.
I brought the car in with about 1/4 tank of 100 octane ready for a mixture that I was going to do later on that night... When I picked up my car I noticed that my tank was on Empty! Looking at my PowerMeter I saw that the peak MPH that the car was taken was 105@17.5PSI. When I saw this I was like WHOA!
then I called the service station.
Thinking that Ed drove my car I paid it no attention but curiosity got to me.
Later on I find out that the car was taken to Makakiko Drive and it wasn't driven by Ed. It was driven by someone else...! I also was told that Chris may have been in the car while the car was driven!!!!
As if this wasn't enough... when I got to my girlfriends house the car sounded like a gasket blew!
I then called Subaru again and explained that a gasket might have blown and that I believe it's directly related to the way the car was driven while it was being serviced.
I get a call shortly after from Chris explaining what happened. He told me a completely different story from what I heard the day earlier. He also claimed to be the driver. He also said that it was driven like how it would be driven at the track since he knows that I'm out there and to make sure that I won't have problems running my car!
Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think that my car should have been tested in that fashion and I don't think that I should be told that it was tested so I have no problems on the track!
Did I mention that I got a free detail?! For some reason my car was clean as a whistle (with a few oil marks here and there) when I picked it up and when I dropped it off it was hella dirty!
I don't know how to complain about this sort of thing and I need some help with it...
If Chris is reading this... I don't mean to cause problems and I don't mean to seem ungrateful for the service that has been provided to me but is it company policy to abuse someone’s car like that without their consent? What if you (or whoever was driving my car) had gotten a ticket/crashed/killed someone/broke something in my car...etc. who would be responsible? I surely thing it wouldn't be me! I don't think that you wouldn't be noticed on the road going 105MPH on a WRX (that is hella loud)!
I'll be checking in to tickets..Etc. on my car that day and we'll see!
Anyone/Everyone please help me I feel so wronged here and I don't know what to do... I'm not one to stand up to someone and give them what they deserve.
Thanks in advance,
Jon
07/19/03 - Sorry for all the trouble... I'll be contacting Chris once I calm down a little

1) When you drop cars off for servicing, don't they write the drop off milage on the paper work? If it had more than 5 miles on it and it was my car....IT WOULD BE ON!
2) "He also claimed to be the driver. He also said that it was driven like how it would be driven at the track since he knows that I'm out there and to make sure that I won't have problems running my car!" <---- I don't think this is his job, to test a car like it would be driven at the track and on the street????
I don't know man this is a hard one to talk about.
A) On one hand they "support" (take that however you want) us at track days.
B) They have helped out a lot of people with warranty stuff. <--that is cool!
But then there is all the bad stuff........Stuff like this and all the other things that you all know about and don't have to be repeated.

Yeah I know what your saying and the points you are making... that's why I don't want to cause such a fuss but at the same time I think I was really wrong.
Exactly what you said it isn't his job to test that car and even if it was someone else other than chris he shouldn't be driving my car like that anyway.
That brings me back to the damage that could happen to my car and or other people...etc.
I know they support us at the track and I think it's great but my car shouldn't be "tested" like how it will be driven on the track you know?
I don't know exactly what was said since I was pissed at the time.. but I think he said that he went to sand island to drop something or someone off?!

why was the stories that I received totally different?
from waipahu subaru to makakilo drive is well over 5 miles. from waipahu subaru to sand island is well over 5 miles!

I don't know what to do.

Fawk that!
No one has the right to abuse your car. You gave them the keys so they could service your car. If they were out thrashing your car (and obviously they were), please call Mr. Schuman. Really. No way someone can justify driving your car at that kind of speed because they "think" they know how you drive and want to simulate it. Chris fawked up. We should set up a group *****-slap. If your car would have had problems, would he have warrantied it? Hell no. Seriously, call Mr. Schuman.

Test drive
Personally I feel that you should go down to the dealership and sit down with Chris and now that it has been a couple days you will be calm and explain the way you drive your car should not be the way they drive it. You are the one making the monthly payment and if you want to abuse it then thats your right not theres. I am sure that if maybe you sit down with him and explain how pissed you are and that you feel that there was no real need to even drive your more than 5 miles or so to see if it over heats. Then ask him for some free parts to get back on your good side or at least clean your car seeung they got it dirty...I kinda know how you fell I let a friend borrow my car thinking he would take care of it and when he brings it back he proceeds to tell me how he pegged the speedo I was not happy because I drove his car like it was my Grandma's Town car...Just my $.02

I had to drain my coolant from my radiator once... the car over heated less than 5 miles away!
Oh.. they didn't put enough coolant in my car either... After getting to my girlfriends house where I noticed the sound of broken gasket (s) i noticed that when the car was hot that the coolant leve was well below the low line! NOT good!.. I had to fill it up to the full line 3 times since weds.

You also might want to consider talking to the Better Business Bureau about your situation. About possible tickets, I really doubt HPD issued you any but you can check with the DMV in about 1-2 weeks (takes that long to log in citations). If you need any more help, let me know.
I agree with Silver Satin, you should go down there and talk with Chris. Go there with a cool head, and just explain your thoughts and feelings about how your car was abused. If you can't bring yourself to talk to him face to face, maybe your should type up letter and give that to him.
This is just a thought.
I hope everything gets taken care of.

Actually Sean said what I was really thinking go down to the main Dealership on Beratina (how ever you spell it) and talk to Chris's boss they are the one running everything. And it seems that they didn't even fix your car. #1 reason why if I can do the work myself I would rather do it or get a friend that knows what they are doing to help. Or I guess you could report them to the BBB but if they are hooking some people up on warrenty work when there car is modded, personally I don't think that would be a good idea. Kinda like don't bite the hand that feeds you.
