Well HIIC here’s my EVO review…
EVO - GREAT CAR!!!
STi - GREAT CAR!!!
i know my opinion doesn't matter... but i'm bored...
they both have their advantages and disadvantages. here's a list i made myself... btw... i have driven the EVO a few times myself and i own an STi... so i'm really really trying not to be biased to one or the other.
EVO -
aftermarket parts are endless
front mount intercooler (no biggy, but it does look nicer)
recaro seats *drool*
a little lighter then STi, but no big difference between WRX
smoother handling overall (with the Blistein shock package it still feels smoother compared to stock STi suspension)
more stable feeling especially when taking turns at like 40mph, not that you should do that...
smoother shifting
clutch is a little lighter and grabs a little earlier (i like this better, but this is realli a driver preference)
you gotta admit... it does look pretty nice...
STi -
really no need for such an endless amount of aftermarket parts to choose from
BOXER ENGINE!!! SOUNDS SO NICE!!!
more stable chasse (not sure if this is true, but that's wut i heard)
300hp and 300lb of torque... need i say more?
HIDs are STOCK on an STi... it's an OPTION on EVO8s...
when i drive an STi, i feel like i'm really driving a rally car. not a riced up civic.
interior in STi is freakin nice...
BBS rims > Enkei rims
TAKUMI FROM INITIAL D DRIVES ONE!!! well... the GC8 model at least...

I'd hit an Evo...hard!
But then again as one of the fools on the Subaru commercial I guess I better stick to subies!
Forester XT or 9-2X are my current target rides (in about 1-2 years).

I had a couple of friends back on the mainland with EVOs and they both had to get their clutches replaced after about 25k miles, not sure if Mitsubishi fixed that or not though. He couldnt afford an upgrade at the time so he got the stock clutch replaced and he told me that it was the same stock number as the clutch in the Ralliart Lancers... Dont know if this happens to them all but I just thought it was odd that 2 of my EVO friends had the same problem, other than that I loved driving/riding in that thing.

But that was the 3rd time I've been in there over 2 years to try and get one.

...oh and this isn't a "STi vs. EVO thread. People have asked me about the car that's all. I guess I'm a subject matter expert<----(don't take this to heart)...I've spent a lot of time w/ a WRX, STi, S2000, and now the EVO.

From: Ewa Beach, Hawaii...Current Best Time: 12.59 @ 107.48mph (108.47 best mph) in Hawaiis humid weather! w/ stock turbo&intercooler
Car Info: 2004 STi.....stock turbo/intercooler/cat-back, aftermarket intake/downpipe/piggyback
I think both cars have their ups and downs, I was torn between an STi and an EVO8!
This is my breakdown...
EVO's: STi's:
Nicer exterior Nice exterior
Nicer seats/cheap interior Nice seats/much better interior
Stronger internals (700HP capable) Strong internals (550HP max)
Better turbo (450HP max?) Good Turbo (400HP max?)
Good Stock HP/Torque (271) Better stock HP/Torque (300)
19 psi stock boost 14.5 psi stock boost
Easier to work with A little more challenging
More aftermarket parts Some aftermarket parts
Way too expensive (dealer markup) Better dealer pricing
A few more mods to run 12s Turbo-back + Good tuning = easy 12s
Strong Tranny/Clutch Better Tranny/Clutch
Better Suspension Good Suspension
I guess y'all know what Im drivin, although a mixture of the two would make an ideal car...I just wanna run 11's soon hopefully before the next shootout?

Go Evo go!!!! Yeah, thats right foo's I'm still here
Cant get rid of me that easy. Too bad I'm stuck in Florida for like two more years!!! I'm not really biased on this subject.
I still wanna kill the ***** that stole my STi !!!!! I like both cars
I wish I couldve done more with the STI

I think both cars are great. The MR is really sweet. I love my STi. If I could, I would rock both cars. Ya gotta love this STi vs. EVO rivalry though, as both cars are now stateside we can just wait and see how each model gets better year after year. As stated by the latest Best Motoring DVD, the EVO IX is better than the current STi Spec C, but "beware the next STi"...sit back and enjoy the fruits of competition.
