Well HIIC here’s my EVO review…

It’s a great car – period!

It handles better than any of my Imprezas. The ride is way smoother and there is way less road noise in the EVO.

It’s a little bit slower than my STi. But the power delivery is way smoother. I love the twin scroll turbo, very little lag.

The aftermarket is way better the Suby aftermarket.

I don’t really know if I like the 5-speed in the EVO better than 6-speed in the STi. I’ll add to the post when I make up my mind. But I do think the EVO tranny will be way better with the kartboy short shifter and bushings…we’ll see soon.

The interior sucks but the Recaro seats f-ing ROCK!!!

I love the way the car looks…I think it looks way better than the STi.

The love the steering...it feels very quick and very solid

The stock stereo sucks – period…I mean the worst stock stereo I’ve ever heard.

I’ll post more up later, if you have any questions ask.

Before the Evo was available in the U.S., I had my heart set on getting one. Then it arrived, and I thought it was dog ugly. Back then WRX interiors were nothing to crow about, so that was a push. Now the WRX interior is MUCH nicer, and the Evo is still dog ugly inside and out.

If they ever get styling to match their performance, I'll consider getting one.

The EVO is a good car no doubt about it. I was going to trade my STi for an MR just recently but decided not to for a few key reasons. 1. EVO runs much higher boost stock than an STi (about 5 pounds) and the STi still makes more power. 2. The EJ25 has unlocked potential in that if you put forged pistons in (like the EVO) its much more capable than it is factory 3. Although having a twin scroll factory would be nice, I'd end up changing it out anyway so what's the sense.

I was basically attracted to fun carbon fiber goodies and an 8 lb roof. Mark my words that a Subaru WILL out last an EVO in maintenance and life.

DIE SUBY HATERS!!

no just playing mach5, nice write up though me personally i like both cars i chose the suby because the evo to me lives to much off of the 2fast 2furious image.....but if i had the money i would more than likely own both

Before I got my wrx I wanted an EVO or STI...EVO was way too expensive (they were trying to get $37000 for it) and I figured I could make the wrx pretty fast with a few parts...Anyhow I will never get a DSM now because my aunt just totalled her brand new Diamante with extensive front end damage, someone hit her head on, and the air bags didn't even deploy. Now she has to get surgery on her back. EVO is a great car and I would have loved to have one until Mitsu lost my trust in their new cars. Sorry but just thought I'd share.

I have a lot of respect for EVOs. I agree with Mach5's post though I haven't spent a whole lot of time in one. The seats are flat out amazing, cept the early ones had a really funky Neon-like colour selection and pattern - not sure if they changed that. Certain things seem tacky about the interior, but the seats make it worth it. The biggest thing for me though is I really do not like FWD based AWD cars. I sold my Celica GT-4 which was an awesome car too, and it had a similar layout w/ a transverse engine, FWD style tranny and then a transfer-case. The Subaru system is just WAY simpler and more elegant and there is no comparision between linkage and cable operated shifters if you are into things like that. I really like horizontally opposed engines, and the low center of gravity they offer. Of course, all in all you can't argue with the specs and the EVO flat-out performs. Overall it all comes down to personal preference, and IMHO it's a sweet car. If I were to get one, it would be charcoal grey because they just look MEAN in that colour... The only thing I find odd about the car though is the FWD biased drive - where 100% of the power can be put to the front wheels, and it's front biased unless the rears slip.

No matter what tho... Sweet car man, enjoy it!!

Dan,
How much was it? I initially wanted to get one but the a-holes at Mitsu Hawaii wanted some outrageous markup over the MSRP.

hehe. cool. The only thing I find odd about the evo, is how it's exhaust sounds.. Kinda soft for some reason.
