Visiting Honolulu. What's to do?

Hey guys. I'm visiting my friend who lives in honolulu/waikiki area. Gonna be there between 6/23 and 7/6. Not really interested in going to luaus and touristy stuff like that, but open to suggestions on some fun things to do. Subie meets are fun to...and i'm over 21+ so bar recommendations are good to.

TIA!

Mai tais. For bar but many locals go there. Beach during the day get some tan and feel the ocean. Club 939 if you like see strippers. Pretty much walking the Waikiki strip is fun too.

Eat eat eat eat eat eat!!!! Local food is uber delish, and the Japanese and Korean restaurants totally whomp the ones in the Bay Area. Also, check out the sticky thread for tourists (work your way back from the last page because some info is probably outdated by now):

Food's about as expensive as it is in SF or SJ, so not TOO bad haha.

Dude, if you like Japanese food, you have to try Hakone at the Hawai'i Prince Hotel. Make sure you go on a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, and make sure to make a reservation! It's a buffet, but with very high quality food -- made-to-order nigiri and self-serve sashimi are the highlights, and the selection includes niceties like chuu toro, oh toro, ikura, and uni (not to mention hamachi, several varieties of maguro, etc.)! All for $45, which is reasonable considering that for the equivalent at a sit-down place, you'd be easily spending three figures!

Another great places is Yanagi Sushi (great nigiri and good bargains at lunch and late-night, but don't go on a Sunday).

Also, don't miss Sugoi Bento and Catering, the garlic chicken is to die for haha!

Nice thing about HI is that you can always swim off your meals at the beach so you don't turn into a lardo like me!

Renting Mopeds can be done in Waikiki. Just take it around the island.

Be sure that, if you do go hiking, you go an established trail. Don't make up your own.
(Don't want to be hear about another tourist missing)
