Top Mount or Front Mount
The wife and I were debating which one to get. She likes the Top Mount I said Front Mount.
If so explanation would be nice on why you chose what you chose.
We are not planning to upgrade the intercooler right now but just thinking ahead. Right now its basically stock. She plans to get the UP and the DP very soon and lowering it shortly after. After those are complete she plans to upgrade the turbo, and do all the other major things that need done to the motor. Thanks for all the feedback.

There is alot of discussion on this on the technical side of the boards. This decision really revolves around which turbo you are upgrading to. a FMIC requires more air to be pushed through it since they generally have more volume than a TMIC. So if you leave the stock turbo in place with a FMIC, you will introduce more turbo lag, waiting for the turbo to build up enough pressure in the intake system.

^^^ What he said.
FMIC if you want pimp-ness, don't mind the extra lag and saving it for a big turbo upgrade in the future like Green, or Garrett...
TMIC if you want less pimp-ness, slightly easier installation, no extra lag, and for a medium size turbo like the VFs.

But see then the biggest problems w/ TMIC is heat soak and it sure does take a while to get all that heat away from a large TMIC.
Oh and you be suprised at how a GOOD FMIC are on keeping lag down. Its like buying a VF34 in stead of a VF30 you really won't notice a difference in lag. especially when you get it tuned. 500 rpms really isn't alot.
Man San used to have a APS DR650, a tdo4, light wieght fly wheel + alll the exhaust mods from the header on back and man did his car fly on the track.
I say FMIC

Fmic,
IMHO, unless you're in an unusually cold climate. A few here on Oahu bought big TMICs (for the strip). They changed them out for FMICs and took a loss ($$). I was running an APS Type-R FMIC (same as Cobb Conebasher), my stock turbo, equal-length headers, CAI (necessary for FMIC) and turbo-back exhaust (no engine mangement, injectors, fuel pump, etc) and was considerably faster than STIs at the track (open track) on inferior tires. The way my car pulled from around 4K to redline was night and day. Instead of asking it to pull, it pulled like crazy. Think what you want, all the STI guys hate me. Stage 4 guys were asking what turbo I was running. When I said stock, they were disappointed. I also was running EGT and wideband O2 gauges, and never ran lean. Everyone will say a CAI and headers will make you run lean. Make them show you the proof on their EGT/wideband O2. I'm running a full Stage 4 FMIC setup (pnp VF34, fuel, injectors, etc) w/ UTEC, map and acceleration is strong. Mario and I were at the track on the same day. When I took him for a ride, he was impressed. We had nearly the same setup, but not the same results. In the long run, a bit quicker spool is nice, but nearly the same spool with far greater horsepower is better IMHO.

If she wants sleeper just get the APS black front mount. its just like the crome process, except its black not neccessay a layer of paint. 95% of people will just think its the condesor or radiator, you be suprised
