Racing on the street is not safe, anywhere, anytime. While SubyN00by has said he has an oasis of "relative" safety, and will post a 2 hr vid of him sleeping on the road for me, it is never safe because its on public roads. just because it has not happened... ugh. Do yourself a favor go read, Deep Survival.
here you go:

And on that point I really think that I'm done beating the horse.

i cant believe i read through all 3 pages of this s#!t.... i gave up along time ago arguing with stupid people, cause at the end of the day. they are still stupid. Although for what its worth, they are also the ones who end up with their brains spattered across the road cause they think they know how to drive. and also, if you have to race an old ***, rice poppin honda to prove your 290whp car is faster then you have ***** issues man....

Thats what I forgot to tell you at the meet last night!! Happy B-lated Bday!!
As far as street racing goes, this is my opinion on this and if you guys want to start flamming up, be my guest. Jus speaking from experience. I do believe that its a phase that we all go through when first acquiring our license to drive and feeling the anxiety of speed!! But through experience, we learn the consequences and for the unfortunated few who witnessed the final outcome of a "STREET RACING" gone bad, understand the penalties. Through this, we car enthusiats evolve and become mature behind the wheel thus avoiding street racing by taking any neccessary actions like taking the next cutoff or slowing way down. Unfortunate enough to say, I was a witness to a street racing accident making me fully aware of penalties and thus dont condone street racing anymore!! As far as I remember street racing accidents/fatalities go way back into the mid 90's or before.. Im sure everyone who was in the import scene for the longest time remember the accidnet in Aina Hina/Hawaii Kai side where a white '97 prelude who was drivin by a St.louis student and another racer was racing down that stretch of road that leads to hawaii kai and killing an innocent lady in her van.
"SPIRITED DRIVING" in my book guess would be defined as "Running the Touge"sort of speak away from the public eye where each driver knows their and the cars limits and knows the other drivers driving habits. But then again thats why AUTO-X exist.
Guess its still a form of street racing but atleast its not going like a 155mph squeezing NOS on the freeway like in those speedhawaii videos back when Steve was running it. Brandon, you know which car I talking right??

On the other side, of death. When it's your turn to go, it's your turn to go. Be it street racing, walking your dog on the sidewalk and someone decides to drive on the sidewalk anyway, or if you are sleeping and a big *** boulder comes crashing through your wall.

Why it can be good to try to make a point sometimes
I argued it so that the next time a silly kid asks that question or looks it up on these forums they will see how crazy we are and run away
woah what did i start... haha! ok ok yah i know very serious topic or what not... u say street racing takes no skill... well since ive had my license ive street raced... alot.. and ive never had an accident or have caused an accident. wheather its dumb luck or the fact i know when its a good time to go i dont know but one thing is for sure.. ill never bring this up on here again...
you could hit a pot hole and fock up, somone could cut you off, someone changin their spare could accidently roll their tire into the road, anything can happen thats not in your control not matter how good you are.
an accident can still happen at tracks or auto X, but its in a more controled safer environment where one is less likely to happen... when you are racing on the street all the time the chances of something happening just get higher... and DONT ever say or brag about you never being in or causing an accident, thats just ASKING for something to happen!!!
i have to face that sad depressing reminder EVERYDAY of Juanito Omnes Jr. who died in kunia where the speed limit is 25mph. my co workers have told me thier horror storries of when they came to thier aid. one i knew who was never the type of person to cry, lost it and cried at the scene. its hard for me to sleep at night when i remember the incident.
Who knows why the driver decided to race in the rain with three kids in the passenger seats. probably because he thought he could handle his car or was good enough to think that he wasnt putting anyone at risk.
street racing affects everone, it ruins the image of all car enthusiasts. i drove by the area where the accident happend and people were putting up flowers, they sounded a loud siren at me while i passed by and i didnt even do anything..
Hey, jus got back from a weeklong vacation and started to read this.
There are too just many variables on the street to make it safe.
Seriously, could you live with your conscience when you kill or injure someones wife, daughter, granddaughter...etc.?
Since I'm gonna say a firm no, i choose not to street race.
If someone revvs you out, let them.
My cousin's co-worker just got fired because he didn't call in to work one morning.
The reason? He was a 20 y/o street racing. Had a few drinks, went to race a car at 120 mph, didn't even try to turn, and smashed his STI into the wall. Do kids need to learn how to drive? Yes indeedy. Are accidents avoidable? Some are yes. Could he have died? Absolutely. I am against it b/c it raises my hardworking dollars that it could be used elsewhere for now INCREASED insurance premiuims b/c some tough guy thought he was FASTER than some other guy.
In response to subynooby, you may think you are safe driving on the road in the open in the middle of the sticks, but if you are still insured by your auto insurance carrier, then you are affecting people, monetarily atleast.
Oh yeah, happy belated BDAY JUSTIN!!!!!

I don't care how many kittens you've rescued from trees or elderly women you've assisted walking across the street or how many kid's assses you've wiped. As far as most people here are concerned, you are an idiot posting inflammatory responses just to buy some time while you are at work. Do it in another forum and cut the crap.
