Zero: Not too bad. Sucks that I get only 45 frames or so on 1280x1024 resolution with 2xFSAA. Its stable just very computer intensive. The graphics are pretty good for a MMORPG but not very optimized which is very understandable from a programmer's point of view because you can't make a game this big and have enough time to optimize things. I have a 3.0GHz P4 w/ Hyperthreading on a GF FX 5900 Ultra 256mb, 1gb of DDR400(PC3200) CAS2 Ram on an Abit IC7-G Intel Canterwood 800mhz FSB PC. I hope they get the optimizations fixed because I don't see how a game with less graphical detail compares to say UT2k3 or Unreal 2 with same resolution at 1280x1024 and 2x FSAA run considerably less frames. I get about 180 frames with 2xFSAA on Unreal.

 

GF FX 5900 Ultra... Sweet card. I have been thinking of replacing my GF4 Ti4600 with that card. We had 3 5900's in the shop I work at, 2 are sold already and there is one more left. It calls to me, but I have been able to resist the urge to buy it. I just keep thinking.. the money spent on that, could go to the uppipe and downpipe.

Which manufacturer of the 5900 ultra did you get?

Dave: You can always do what my boss did, he got his wife into playing EQ. That could keep her from killing you when you start playing SWG.

 

Last check, Compusa doesn't have them in stock today. Software Etc Kahala selling the Collector's Edition(great for Star Wars fans with its coffee table book) for 80, original game only for reserve.

Zero: I have the Leadtek one. This is not the 5900 128mb but the 5900 Ultra 256mb. Leadtek hasn't released a retail one but the OEM one came out and is about 460. Oh wait now thats why I haven't broken into the 15's yet. LOL.

 

Update: My friend that works at the Waikele Compusa, just called me about 10 min ago and said they just recieved them.

BoOm: The FX5900 256mb is the only card to go with. At PTC all we got in on our initial order were the EVGA FX5900 256mb ones. I happy with my Ti4600, and since I hardly have time for gaming. Makes it easier for me to pass on new computer "goodies". Some of my pc gaming friends ask me what I am playing now, I just tell them.. Gran Turismo - "Real Version". The car is real, the parts are real, and the money you spend is real.. LOL Too bad I can't make money in real life as quickly as I made money in GT3.

 

I play it if you didn't have to pay $50 for the game and some high a$$ monthly fee.

 

Yeah that got tiring with EQ. And there were a lot of problems they didnt seem to fix. Oh well. It was fun tho. When I lived somewhere that had a winter it was a good time to play since I hate cold weather, but here I would have to shoot myself if I sat inside playing a game for hours. And they are addictive as hell, I would get drug back into it and be divorced yet again...

Oh and as for SWG, yep my roommate when out at bought it, but there were no regular version available, so he bought the collectors version, and after he installed it, the servers were down. I had a good laugh.

 

Servers are down until tomorrow morning. Not as bad as EQ though, it was down for two weeks after it was released.

 

I played one MMORPG, and I could not invest the time need to get your character stronger. So I stick to RTS games now. Homeworld 2, and Warcraft III - Frozen Throne should be out soon.

 

Been betaing both WC3:TFT and HW2. Just got the WC3:TFT retail cd 2 nights ago and I wasn't impressed at all. Maybe because it was just that I beta'ed far too long? RTS's are my specialty but I'm giving this a try.

 

Cool! You have the retail cd for WC3:TFT, Its suppose to relase in July. I'll check it out then. Maybe you have been playing too much, now its just same 'ol thing now.

 

My Geforce 2 Ultra is YEARS old. Maybe I should pick up a FX5900 like this one? It's only $20!

LOL! That card rocks! Its modular so you can just add on more features as need be, you can probably add another 256 mb ram for about $1.00.
