Did you ever install the Kartboy Shortshifter and bushings? What is your take on it?
I just washed my car after the install...I'll keep an eye on the dust collection...realized though, I may get more dust dust due to the fact that I live in Kaneohe and make the the LikeLike or Pali run at least once a day...

I did get the short shifter and bushings installed. Norris, Blake, Ty, and I had a small install day where we all changed out our bushings (front and rear) and I also did the short shifter...

The pain part was the Pin installation...I lost the first one after it flew off as I tried to hit it in...ARGH! had to use a nail/ziptie...actually, it is still on there...afraid that if I try it again, it will end up taking an hour....probably do it this weekend...

Yeah...I like the short shifter...throws are notchy, short, and stiff...it's funny isn't it...the throw is a lot shorter but because it is stiffer, I feel I can shift as fast if not faster with my stock shifter...haha...thanks for the advice prior to the install though...I appreciate it and your offer to help...just knowing that someone offers their help makes the job seem easier...thanks man.

BTW...have you done the steering rack bushing replacement? Now that is a big improvement mod...gets rid of the sloppiness in the steering...With Blakeman's help, it took all of 1/2 hour I think on my STI...45min on his wrx...

We ordered ours from KastlesKorner.com...the Proline bushings I think it was called...same maker as Whiteline, except it is blue and only $19.95...I would recommend this upgrade in a heartbeat!

I think i'm just too nice to my brakes. chee hoo....

I have 48k, but my rotors are smooth and mirrored. I try not to deposit pad material after braking hard since the stock WRX brakes are ... uhh .. kinda lacking. (well, the pads.) And from what it looks like, the STi's rear brakes are damn well as big as my fronts, diameter wise.

For the STi's though, I assume it's not unusual to get some real wear on them as they are some meaty monsters, not to mention agressive enough compound to last through a few Best Motoring laps (***** to the wall) without even smoking one bit. IIRC the EVO (7? or 8?) on that same run had problems with the brakes; they mentioned it was smoking. (and you probably know all this anyway, bahaha )

I have no clue what the minimum thickness on the STi's rotors are, but maybe you oughta' get them resurfaced? (if viable)

Yeah...I forgot the tolerances...

I believe I can get them resurfaced still...but you know...I'll probably run them till 60K then replaced them with slotted/drilled rotors...heh heh...

You and Jimi going to the meet to pick up your shirts right? I'll see you there right?

Let me know when you guys are going...I'm going for sure!

Here are some Pics...

For those interested and after trying all sorts of things...I finally found a question mark shaped radiator hose that worked....

Checkers Part#A70637CS $8.00 called a (Curved Radiator Hose)

I can't feel the benefits as I am running a stock turbo...I was hoping for a different sounding bov...but alas...it sounds almost like the stock recirc valve but if you can believe this...more quiet...

The air ramp/GP Moto Elbow seems to be working very well...had to cut the top portion of the grill to make it work...it came with stencils and all...

I am also trying a new product by Royal Purple (I use their oil in my STI) called Purple Ice...it's an additive similar to the other products which lessens the surface tension of water to allow it to cool the temp down more while running through the radiator...temp gauge went down a bit...

Nice cheap mods...just to keep things different...

So if I want the loud bov sound should I go with something else besides an HKS bov?

It's quiet with the recirc kit..

if you set the HKS up for 100% atmospheric (normal), it can get pretty loud with silver or gold insert...right now I have the purple insert...about 1/2 as loud as the previous two...

I can scare people on the side of the road with my HKS...

^^^I'm pretty sure they are as well...

I like the purple insert...you can make it sound different by the way you drive...you can with the others as well, but the purple has a much less instrusive sound to it...thanks Jimi...
