rpm jump question

i apologize if this question has been answered before(post the link if so) but i notice (depending if my rpms are @ 3700-3900) i noticed my rpms jump another 2-300 rpms when i shift... but if i make sure to shift @ 4000 it never happens... i hope that this is not a characteristic of det.

(i tried search but the page is down)

Does it jump up or down? Is your foot resting on the throttle when you shift?

My car does it and from what I have been told, it is normal. I noticed that it revs up when you get off the gas quickly. It is a bit unsettling when I rev it to redline only to have it rev to 7300 rpm. I assume that you have an STi since it is drive by wire. It actually is a bit helpful in keeping the revs up between shifts but at redline? Come on!

yeah, i always make sure my foot is off... if i shift @ 4000 it never jumps.... but sometimes in the 3700.... it kinda sucks cuz i hate looking at it when it does that.
