After a jump start, '02 WRX runs okay only up to 4000 rpm (was: please help
today my 02 wrx died on me. come to find out the wire on my alt. had broken no big deal, but before i found that out a guy jump started my car. well now for some reason it runs like crap, between like 0 and 4k rpm it seems fine, but after that it just not want to pull. it was running fine before today, and that is the only thing that that happened. any thought would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like the car is in limp mode. If the engine feels that further operation may damage it, it will reduce available rpm/power for self-preservation. If you do a search for limp mode, you may find some relevant info. Is the car showing a CEL?
