My suggestion is to keep a sales brochure of your STI, from the dealership, in your glove box....that way, when you get pulled over, you can show the officer that it comes that way from the factory.......But beware, it is a double edge sword. some(By some, I mean a small amount.....)of police officers hate it when the person there pulling over, has proof that what they just said, was wrong....

Cuz then you're admitting that you were speeding, even if it's only 5 mph over, that's still speeding. I don't see why he didn't set it to cruise at 55 mph though. If you know a cop is following you, take extra care in going speed limit. Not even one over.

Hell when a cop is following me I go 5 mph UNDER the speed limit to frustrate him and have him fly off to the next guy.

Sometimes I feel like waving at him (in Hawaii I felt like pointing at my Recon sticker)

Yeah...been using the "Force" lately...

to detect the police...for some reason, I've had several knuckle-dragging Honda's wanting to whip by me....

I didn't provoke anything, believe me...the two most recent ones were:

1. Blue Honda Civic on H1 near Waimalu cutoff ~10:30pm...this guys goes whizzing by me...I'm like, what the fu...for some reason, I kept my restraint...not 15sec. later...a black Mustang with a blue light on top goes whizzing after him...heh heh...Strike 1, seen him pulled over as I drove by to take the Kaneohe exit to H3.

2. Grey S2000 (4:45am, Kinau right past Pensacola...)again, here I am cruising down Kinau on my way to work...this grey S2000 has to buz me on my left...again, felt this restraining "Force"...didn't do anything....again, not a few seconds later, a cop at the corner of Kinau and Pensacola goes zipping after him...Strike 2 for the Honda guys...

On my way to work (~4:30am) on the Likelike, I've been real mellow...waiting for this dumb White Ion to get busted...the guy goes way to fast for his own good...I haven't seen him in a while so maybe he did get busted...

Yes, but the officer said he was doing way more than that, I'd rather admit to doing 5 over. Also, the officer is more likely to be nice-ish to someone who doesn't try to lie.

his brochure doesnt have an sti wing on it, cause he has a bug eye. dave do your homework! lol j/k. (or get a JDM brochure) but then the police man might say "this is a usdm wrx.. blah blah blah.." lol

but i will take your advice dave, and i will get my brochure, chop it and make it lower to the ground, use a permanent marker and black out the windows, draw in an exhaust, and tell him "well this car doesnt have a front plate on either". and be on my way.. lol

I know alot of HPD Officers don't know the difference between an Impreza/Lancer Evo, or what's stock and what's not on a vehicle. There have been instances where I've been called to a traffic stop and helped to "verify" if the vehicle had been modified or if the part was OEM or not.

I think that the Officer you were dealing with made the right choice by not citing you for recon, especially if he/she wasn't sure if your car was modified or not. See, not all HPD Officers are mean!

When you check out a laser gun, we have to run a number of tests to see if the gun is in working order or not, including calibration of distances, time, and speed. So if I pulled someone over I can show you the speed I clocked you, but theres not real way to show you the calibration, as that information is not shown on the guns display. Hope this helps.
