Thumbs up Got pulled over today on EB I80

So I went to san fransisco today and out to fisherman's wharf to shop and get a bite to eat. We hit a little traffic on the way out but coming home was smooth sailing.

I was making great time but got pulled over in the fairfield area going 92mph. I thought i was sooo fuct. I act cool...roll down my window and the officer asks me how fast i was going. I told him the truth because there was no hiding it.

Then he asked me what units i was with. So i told him what units i was with and he says "no-sh*t" i was with that unit too. He was refering to my veteran plates of course. We BSed for a few and he told me to keep it under 80!! If you're a vet get these "anti-cop plates" the next time your registration is due!! Im sure glad i did.

No ticket either. WOOHOO... So that's why i signed my life over to uncle sam. ERIC

A friend beat a ticket when she got pulled over in her bimmer down on the Peninsula. I think it was CHP, since she said she was clocked at 80+ on 101. When she pulled out her identification, he immediately noticed her leather wallet had a law-enforcement basket weave pattern. Before he even opened it to see her i.d. and badge, he asked which office she worked out of (she's works in the District Attorney's office in a Bay Area city). She told me she didn't assume he was gonna let her off the hook, but was silently praying in her car. She lucked out.

1 - Cops are VERY observant on routine freeway stops, mainly because more officers are killed while doing this than any other function (killers and psyhos think they're cornered and just pull out guns, etc.).

2 - They're very friendly towards military and public office. A friend of mine this month was moving back from SD after active duty in the naval reserves. He was doing 90+ on I5 and got stopped by the police. They saw his military sticker/permit as they were running the plates, and he got off without a hitch. He said the key was to be polite and honest, and have everything organized and prepared (license, registration, etc.)

I got out of a 100+ ticket in Sac on I-5 north when my WRX was new.

I was honest, and told him the truth, I was tired after a LOOOONNNNGGGG day of recruiting, and I just wanted to get home.

As he handed my my Military ID, Drivers License, and registration bace he said, "I was in the military once, slow it down, have a nice evening."

But in Milpitas, Sgt. Kwong had no bleeping clue what the military even was. He didn't even know that I don't have to change my Drivers License address. He is about a dumb ****. He just got more pissed when I tried to explain. Tried to take me to jail and all kinds of BS.

Moral of the story is, don't rely on it. It works sometimes, sometimes it doesn't.

Sisqocqk: What branch and unit? I am active duty Navy right now (E6). It is good to see some people that have given back to this great country on the boards. We are a dying breed my man!

So far I haven't had the luck of other military folks. I live in Hawaii, and the prevaling attitude of the po-po's here is to troll the areas around post. No love for most of HPD... Hopefully things change once I'm back in the mainland

License to shoot people = get out of jail free card.

I help people who research cures for cancer, earthquake damage prevension, repair of environmental issues, life-saving materials science and a host of other things that will better humanity for generations to come. I even work for the U.S. Government.

I wonder if I'll get cancer treatment or earthquake insurance as a perk. Maybe if I carried a gun, I would.

Sleep... what's that!? i once tried putting quarters into my rucksack trying to get a soda because i had been up for over 120hours.

I remember a time when my team initiated a Call for fire mission with your "big guns" and you couldn't come through... so we called on the airforce a-10s instead. I guess the navy had better things to do... you know with all those men on board

But that's all good because the navy came through everyother time we called them. Hell...we even got picked up by a seahawk because the blackhawk's gps was down and he couldn't get a good 8digit grid.

I pick up my AFAST results on Friday. I may be flying one of those "Blackhawks" in the near future!

I am a Fire Controlman in the Navy. I am sure that you know what that means. Not Fire Fighter! Ordinance on target baby! NSFS...I am sure you know what that means too. It used to be called NGFS (Naval Surface Fire Support) and (Naval Gun Fire Support). The Fire Control Problem.

Nice to chat with you, fellow vet. I love my job. I have been to so many exotic places that i can't even list them all. The pay sucks, but everything else is great!
