Popo got me
Yea on my way to work, I gots pulled ova by the one and only hpd. You know where they speed trap people after the stadium going east bound? I knew that they do that so i slowed up abit. Going 55, I pass this cop on the shoulder that had just gave someone a ticket and some how i knew that he was coming after me. And yup he did. So he was hanging off my rear bumper and his lights come on. I pull over and he says "you are aware of the recon laws in the state of hawaii, right?" I said yea and then he says that im also giving you a citation for a "loud exhaust". pff. He takes my info and then comes back to my window and gives me not one but two citations. one for not having recon and my "loud exhaust and another for expired insurance. But i think that i just had a expired insurance card, not policy. You know how you really dont check your info until they point it out yea? Ahh oh well, my first and second citation in one shot. *note I have had plans to get and will get my recon, i just dont have the money to get things into spec atm. so any other suggestions for me?

Pulled over
That sucks Elway. At least he didn't try and tag you for speeding. As for recon, that may be tough with your suspension. I passed.....barely I think with my Tein SS. Not too sure what the rates are, but I'm pretty sure that your RA's are much stiffer. Plus, your car is a bit low, you may need to raise it a bit, get your wheel alignment and give it a try. Good luck!

same thing what the above guy said i those bs tickets...also what you can do is take a picture of your car assuming all that is modified is your exhaust if you have coilovers raise your car to stock ish height. take a picture of your piping with a ruler or something to measure the piping diameter the recon law states you do not need recon for exhaust unless you have piping 3.5 inches and above, but you do need to go to the recon office to get this paper stating what is said above. i didnt have the paper but i still got away with it in court maybe this will work for you hopefully this helped.
OK read carefully...this is the last post you will need in this thread:
1. Get your car recon'ed (pass recon) before the date that you have to go to court. In the recon you need to make sure the exhaust is specifically listed to prove that the exhaust passes recon.
2. Make sure to get your correct insurance card that shows that you had insurance at the time of the ticket.
3. Go to Court or send in a letter before the due date...explain that at the time of the tickets your car was at the same point as you currently are and that you have now gotten your car checked out/passed in good faith. Also, explain that at the time you did have current insurance and just had a expired card in your car. The judge will dismiss both tickets.
This SAME EXACT thing happened to me in Waikiki...I got recon'ed for everything, passed and told the judge exactly that...it was all dismissed.
Would also help when you go to court to dress business like...don't go in baller/tough-guy/pimpin' clothes. Conduct yourself as a responsible adult while in court.
