Got caught out in the Storm and almost got lost at sea

Wassup guys. This was the perfect storm.. without the huge 50 foot swells. Compass bearings went haywire probably cause of the lightning, and we headed in the complete opposite direction. We were about 10 miles out and visibility was about 10 feet. Lightning, thunder, heavy showers, high winds, and waves.

We were in a 17 foot boat. No marine warnings whatsoever and all it took was less than half an hour to see it in the distance to all hell breaking loose. a 2 hour ride took approx 6 hours. No words can explain how nasty it was and how terrified both me and my friend were. Thank goodness the Coast guard was on it.

For this week i'll stick to cruisin around in my STI.

The ocean likes to remind people how small and insignificant they are.

Glad your safe.

No, no damages but the bilge pump worked some major overtime caused the back end filled up just from the rain alone. The incoming waves were another story.

yup i guess. I haven't seen the news yet. after 6 hours of being on the ocean we needed directions, but friends and family freaked out so they called the hfd helicopter. Luckily we stumbled on a buoy about 4 to 5 miles out.. with visibility just a couple hundred feet. We thought we saw land and headed that way and the hfd called to see if we needed assistance. We didn't but they came out and helped us... Those guys are lifesavers!!!! THank God for them!!. But we were heading in the right direction and followed them for a couple of minutes. Then they took off to keep an eye on the other guys out there. All in all, its a reality check for those who take the power of nature for granted. I've been in rougher seas but not being able to see land and heading in the correct direction without reaching land is kinda freaky. 50+ mile per hour gusts in a little 17 footer is crazy. Anyways, I think i'll go out this Saturday with my dad on the other side of the island. He has a GPS so this time we're ready.
