Other forums and their ideas...
Boy, just joined a few other forums to get some insight as to what they are thinking...haven't posted anything...just lurking...
www.clubwrx.net
www.iwsti.com (ImprezaWRXSTI)
Very interesting...I was looking into springs and there are a bunch of hardcore individuals on there totally stuck on Sti Pinks/GroupN Hardtops...
Others on Tanabe's and Prodrive...some, but not many with coilovers...
Such a different philosophy from region to region, board to board...
Preferences from "slammed" to "who cares about dropping"...very intersting...

true.
when i was part of the tri-state forum, a lot of people were big on a set of aftermarket struts and springs. only a small portion of them had/encouraged coilovers att he time.
here, almost everyone rocks the coilovers. kind of a preventative measure with recon lurking about

Coils are popular because like hangbot said, they are height adjustable easily and that comes in handy when you have to bring your car in for inspection/recon...

my pinks w/ stock sti dampeners and noltec castor/camber plates feel pretty good, nicer ride than stock if i remember correctly. lotsa ground clearance. craziest sheex is that on the rear with the stock sti dampeners, stock tops and sti pinks, the car is clunky. we fully installed it properly with the top nut properly tightened and the springs and tops aligned correctly.
my cuscos were quieter. but yeah, recon gives us the need to have height adjustability. at least they allow it now.

the main argument against/for coils and struts/springs were:
coilovers: more chances for pieces to break(not that i've heard of it happening often); plus, other than hardcore autox'rs - how many people are going to change their setup enough to justify them? the pros would be their adjustability.
struts/spring: unadjustable - don't realize the height works(or not) for your setup until after you've spent the money. pros would be the price.

yeah, i am glad you are happy.
how is the noise from the rear? hope it is quiet on your car. my car is noisy now..from the stock parts!! dammit!!! nah, not that bad, but it happens at weird times.
ps. it should have been set at full soft when you got them. keep in mind that there is no stop to the spin of the adjustment ****. you gotta count the clicks. i used my rear view mirror clip-on to see the dial and move clockwise or counterclockwise to adjust the dampening.
