OT: Hope your warm

Well I hope everybody is nice and warm in Hawaii because it is cold here in Arkansas. I woke up to see my truck covered in ice it was supposed to snow last night but instead sleet came down and of course it froze. My truck which is a 1991 Yota 4wd with over 210k fired right up and was defrosted before my neighbor's newer car was. Good thing it is a single cab warms up real fast. We are supposed to get more tonight. Glad I'm leaving for Florida next week for X-Mas. This is the kinda weather I wish I still had my RS or the STI....Take care here is a picture of my truck with a litte ice left on it after I got back.

It took over 15min for the ice to get thin enough I could scrape it off..

Hmmmmm....this could be a problem.

I am in serious talks with organizations in Baltimore and Cincinnati. The scary part is that I would be moving up there most likely in January or early February.

How much of a problem will it be for me to drive there from L.A.? I'm thinking about taking a southern route which goes something like this:

Going to Cincy:
Los Angeles
Pheonix
Santa Fe (if I bypass Pheonix)
Abilene, TX
Dallas
Memphis
Nashville
Louisville
Cincinnati

Going to Baltimore:
Los Angeles
Pheonix
Santa Fe (if I bypass Pheonix)
Abilene, TX
Dallas
Jackson, Miss.
Birmingham
Atlanta
Charlotte
Hampton, VA
Washington D.C.
Baltimore

Now my question is if I am screwed or not? I know how to drive on ice and snow (I give myself a 6/10). I'll have my Suby with good all-season tires on.

Can I make it or should I just have my car shipped directly to those towns? I was hoping to do the drive to see a lot of the country that I haven't seen yet.

It would be cheaper to have the car shipped to the west coast. But I believe Matson has a facility in Dallas you could go on their site and see what it would cost. If you did it that way you really don't have much to worry about. But if you go to Cincy your route looks like it should work. My friend drove from Tacoma WA this time a few years back in a Durango towing his Camaro on a trailer you'll be fine but nobody can predict the weather..

^^^Whoa damn so he went right through the cold mountain passes and stuff!

Thanks for the call on that Matson port/facility in Dallas...didn't know about that and it would make the road trip shorter.

Didn't really need to see Cali, Arizona and NM...seen those already.

Hey I went on Matson's site I didn't see anyting about Dallas. But if I was to ship a car from Hawaii through Matson I would have had to pick it up in Dallas might be a military thing but you could call them to find out I am sure they can help you get a vehicle anywhere you want.
