How many of you actually 'warm-up' your car before a drive?

Just wanted to make sure im not the only one who wakes up and starts my car about 5 minutes before leaving for work.

Anyone else doing the same?

and how many of you actually go far BEYOND and do a full preventive maintenance check of your car which includes: fluids, tire pressure etc. etc.

who justs starts it right up and goes for WOT?

eric

I used to do the preventive maintenance thing (except the tire press). I'd start the car, check my fluid levels (oil, water, windsheild..lol). I'd also check if I had a cel code in pending (I have a scanner). I'd also go as far as checking under the car for any leaks...but that was then. Now I just start it, wait a few minutes and drive off...

my procedure:

start engine.
adjust mirrors
turn on radio.
adjust radio for xm, cd or fm (option: if cool song is on, do little dance)
slap on seat belt
close door
pretend to look cool to next door neightbor MILF
step on gas
lift up reverse ring on shifter
look behind
shift
go.

takes about 30-60 seconds.

There was talk before of an official SOA reply to an inquiry, that said that you can warm up your car, but you shouldn't do so for more than 30 seconds, as it's hard for fluids to circulate during idle.

I usually let my car warm up for 15-20 seconds before driving. Part of it is also because of a recommendation on some web site, saying that it helps prevent acid etching on the cylinder walls...

My routine:

Unlock Club (yes I know it's useless)
Start engine
Remove, stow Club
Twiddle thumbs
Shift and go

I turn the key to the "on" position, let the fuel system pressurize, start it, and them drive, shifting under 2k RPM's and NEVER BOOSTING, until the temperature guage is in the normal operating range...usually between "h", and "c".

I start my car right when I come out of the shower in the morning from my bedroom and let it warm up for 5 minutes until I am ready to leave the house...

Remote Starter owns (just as long as its not left in gear )

Good way to get your car stolen, leaving it sitting there idling... My neighboor when I was back in Vallejo did that, had her car stolen right out of the driveway.

I start it up and drive under 3K rpms until the engine warms up to normal driving condition which is after about 3 minutes then I drive normally which has been changing below 4K to save gas cus I'm unemployed!

I try to give mine 2-3 mins warm up, then don't boot it until its warm. Similarly, I don't switch off immediately after it has been running hard. I think this is valid for all cars, but particularly turbocharged engines.
