Need some local advice

Hey guys

We'll I'm planning to move to Maui in about a month from California and I plan on bringing my car with me. Does anybody have any recommendations on who to ship with, whats a good rate, how long this takes, or anyother hot deals they can let me know of? I got one quote of $1006 and was wondering if that was high or a good deal. Any help much appreciated.

Ray

Matson is the usual shipper but you gotta be careful...they ship your car on the deck. I did my car old car from WA and it had a layer of dust/salt/dirt crap on it when i got it. I had to wash it twice! Plus, all that salt water in the air has gotta be bad.

A chick that just moved here shipped her car through a shipping company that containered it and let her fill the car with her stuff...I think it cost her about $1800 or something.

Car Info: your mom.
when i moved here from east coast it cost me $2000 - half by land, half by sea. it was through AAA Auto Transport. The truck driver who dropped off my car forgot to leave the key, and didn't tell anyone where it was going, who owned it, etc. The shipping company, Matson had to call NYC DMV to find out who owned the car(we have our registration on the front windshield).

Matson = good.
AAA Auto Transport = suckage.

may i suggest you get some of that fancy shipping tape they use for new cars, or either put on a really good paint sealant.

FULLY document the condition of the car beforehand. I've shipped cars 2x and I've NEVER had one come through completely unscathed. Always at least corrosion, or a ding. Not to scare ya, but just to inform ya.
