Question Mobil 1 Extended Performance Motor Oil

OK so Mobil 1 has been on a marketing blitz for it's new product.

I went online and they have a "recommendation" thingie for our cars. Here it is:

http://www.mobiloil.com/USA-English/...nce_5W-30.aspx

Now...15,000 miles sounds like the bomb. BUT, is it safe for our cars? They give it a "guarantee" so I guess if the oil fails and the engine blows up...we get new EJ20Ts

We already change our oil more often than nescesary just for comfort. Regular Mobile one can go for at least 7k miles. You will however need to change the filter in the middle of the 15k miles, unless you can find a filter rated that long.

the numbers manufacturers publish are averaged "best case scenarios". good luck on those numbers on our turbo charged cars. and nate is right anyway. i use synthetic and still change at around 2500 miles... wasting my money? yes. peace of mind? yes.

No you will only need to chance the filter 1 time. You can purchase 7k mile oil filters.

Lexus recommends 7.5k intervals on regular dino oil on most (if not all) of it's cars. They're not interested in buying anyone motors if they don't have to.
