Makes me pause

...but not for too long.

Has anyone seen this thread? It strikes me as funny, because I can honestly say that every single post in there rubbed me the wrong way.

I'm with NoLimit. I think I'm going to keep to myself here in the HIIC.

I'm with you, too. I post in the other forums because Alex asked us too, but I find most of the time my questions are getting answered by you guys, anyway. I don't need the drama that seems to come out in the other forums. Even after I leave the island I'll still post in here.

I read that post before and it bothered me, but it has turned into a circus. Defrauding SoA is awful, but tattling on someone is no better.... Both should have been disciplined by their parents a bit more.

You spend $24K on a race inspired sports car and god forbid you drive it like it was designed. You shouldn't feel bad Subaru has to spend some $$$ to help you fix it when it breaks. Don't offer the warranty if you don't want to back it up.

When I bought my car me and Subaru formed a contract. They got my $24K and I got a WRX with a 3 yr warranty. No where on my warranty does it say I can't drive it like it was advertised or make it faster. The kid asked for help and everyone else was just jealous he was smarter than they were in getting it fixed. Nuff said!

You see, I'm with you but I didn't want anyone to know how deceitful and fraudulent I am, because someone might tell my mommy.

Seriously, I guess the only way he perturbed me was because he didn't do any of the work or research himself. I think he got what he deserved for not knowing something as basic as what 'too much' boost is. Man! Who could afford all of that labor except maybe someone who's still on their parent's tab or who's got their on Hoe (did I just type that?). I guess I can't fault him for that.

There's nothing deceitful nor dishonest about getting warranty work done on your Modded car and removing some of the mods in order to not raise suspicion. That's why there's laws. The law says a business can't refuse work on your car unless that part has been found to directly cause the fault....but where is the mechanism to enforce that? YOU. You would then have to take the SOA dealer to civil court and PROVE that your part didn't cause the fault.

Also, you know as well as I do that if, for whatever reason, a service rep see's your BOV and decides that he won't work on your car because you nullified your warranty; what can you do? Not a goddamn thing, except take it elsewhere.

If you call taking off parts (which you are fully authorized to install vis a vis the law) in order to bypass that whole hassle of Joe Schmoe the service rep (who happens to be in a pissy mood anyhow); a lack of honesty or integrity, then I say that you're not living in the real world.

I do have a problem with dealerships saying, "you have mods, you're denied warranty service." It irritates the hell out of me that because I have an upipe, turbo back exhaust, IC hoses, spark plugs, and a pulley kit (none of them damaging, most of them HELPFUL to the car) that some jackass is going to say, "**** off."

My problem lies in the fact that this idiot modded his car, ****ed it up because of lack of knowledge, and then tried to hide that fact from SoA. Had this idiot's engine just spontaneosly exploded, and he removed an unrelated upipe, it would be a different story. This guy was being blatently dishonest. An equivalent to this would be accidentally filling up your gas tank with diesel fuel (seen it done) and then emptying the tank and refilling it with gas and asking SoA to pay for the damages. Your ignorance leads to costs that SoA has no liability to pay.

Taking parts off to get past the service tech for something unrelated is one thing. But blowing up your engine from too much boost and then removing your MBC to cover it is completely different.

It has been said before on here that, "you have to pay to play." (Who am I quoting here?) and it really applies in this case. If the idiot can afford a $24k car, and afford to mod it, then he should be able to afford to pay the damages when it blows up in his face (pun intended).

As for the ******* who told on him, well that's just dipping in someone else's koolaid.

"...and that's all I've got to say about that."
